lately it seems that the cleaning standards have gone down as i’ve been noticing the beds i’ve been put in are dirty… today there were fingerprints all over the inside of the bed and some lotion stains. pretty unsanitary especially during a pandemic.

Most of the employees are really great. Spray tan machine is top of the line. Red beds needs upgraded for sure. They are both the older style with no face plate. Overall this location is my favorite.

I have been going to Tan Republic before it had that name. Used to be Electric Beach (one on Kings). I love all the girls that work there and I buy the diamond package. Beds are always clean, they keep me informed of new lotions coming out. I should own stock in the company by now. Will not go anywhere else.

Great place to get some fake sunlight when it is rainy outside. The girls are always sweet and friendly. They have never once tried to upsell me on anything. A bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Very convenient to just walk in no appointments are necessary. Very nice beds that are always clean.

I had tanned at this place multiple times with no problem for 2 months – generally nice staff of your averagerhigh schoolers. On switching to a membership, I asked the girl multiple questions at the front desk trying to understand pricing rates. I was informed I would be charged that day ($25 for one day, $50 for 9 days, or $75 for 3 weeks) as well as another charge ($69 on a chosen renewal date for the next month). Uh…some of the that-day charges were more than the monthly membership. Made no sense. I asked the girl why the price was higher for just weeks than the whole month membership. She shrugged sort of clueless, basically indicated I was wasting her time the more questions I asked her, and eagerly waived the card to email mgmt. As I’m painstakingly tapping out this ridiculous email to mgmt and asking her questions for my email, she acted like I was putting her out trying to understand her company’s that-day + monthly charges (Tan Republic, this should be your first hint about staff training). 15 minutes later, I finally thought to ask if the that-day pricing included the sign-up membership fee ($20 at the time, on special). She said yes – and didn’t seem to remotely understand this number bore any meaning to how someone would perceive the pricing rate over days/weeks. For instance, that turns a totally overpriced $75 for 3 weeks of tanning into $50 for weeks of tanning (of a $69 membership) all of which makes WAY more sense. How many customers is this girl going to have sitting in reception trying to understand weird pricing? Does she understand she’s getting paid working for someone at that moment (the typical gen-Zer story). If she’d told me that detail 15 min ago, Tan Republic would have avoided having a customer sitting there for 15 minutes doing HER job for no reason – and I calmly, firmly, and clearly told this girl that, thinking I was saving Tan Republic some extra OBVIOUS staff training that avoids future customer frustrations – you know, CUSTOMERS, the people who make your business go round. *The next day the girl told Tan Republic mgmt that I had *yelled* at her*. Yes, folks, I got a call from Tan Republic after 5:30 at night on a Friday (yeah) with mgmt TELLING me I had yelled at one of their staff and made them CRY. You, too, just may get a late night call from this business if you try to become a member there, too. They insisted they had me on voice and audio recording!!!! They told me I was no longer welcome to tan there!!!! Haha, I should have asked them to play that back to me to PROOVE I had yelled, bc I know I was too busy trying to SLOWLY, clearly explain on-the-job financial common sense to their highschooler to bother yelling at her – why yell when she clearly would have gotten too confused and not understood the financial point I was taking my valuable time trying to explain to her? Yeah, I was frustrated that some company’s staff is WASTING my time – I’m going to talk slow and clear to them to make sure they understand they are wasting someone’s time in the chance that some other poor customer will be spared in future by this girl. Tan Republic, if you don’t TRAIN your staff to help customers to the point that they’re not wasting 20 minutes of their unpaid time sitting in your reception emailing you, I don’t know what you expect. If one of your genZ employees with no financial common sense comes to you crying, maybe QUESTION them a little, before bothering customers at home at night and cutting into your bottom line. This is the bottom line: she should have explained immediately that ALL pricing included the $20 sign-up; this would have avoided EVERYTHING at minute one. My sitting there 20 minutes, her snowflake crying, my deliberate explanation on commons sense, wasting my time, WASTING MANAGEMENT TIME calling me, and WASTING THE BUSINESS BOTTOM line losing a customer because your highschool student doesn’t bother fully explaining what’s happening with the pricing. Tan Republic, you get a 1 star for not empathizing w customers fo your GenZ staff.
