What an awesome experience! I’ve only every had my hair professionally cut a handful of times, most of the time I just keep it long and cut it straight across. I have been wanting to go short again after many years but wasn’t quite ready to commit to another pixie cut. I also have super thick Asian hair, and was afraid that a short cut would leave my hair unmanageable and bulky. Ashley did an amazing job listening to what I wanted and I even showed her a bunch of pictures of some of the older hairstyles I had. She gave me an awesome undercut and a super cute bob that’s perfect for a lower maintenance person like me. My head feels so much lighter than it did before and I’m in love with my haircut. Thank you so much Ashley! You rock.

I am VERY very happy with my experience here at Syd’s. My hair stylist was Cinnamon, and I was very fond of her. We both weren’t scared to get deep in a conversation while my hair was being cut and she made the overall experience much much more enjoyable. As a person with pretty curly hair, I’ve always been hesitant with hair salons because many people are only used to working with straight hair, but I walked out of the salon with a very clean, even, and presentable haircut. 10/10 service, this is definitely my new go-to salon.

I had long hair for 20+ years and regularly donated to Locks of Love, but recently decided it was time to take a break and get a short cut. Courtney, who handled my consultation visit, was absolutely phenomenal and really helped me get comfortable with the idea and feel confident with the style I was contemplating. Bradley, who did my hair cut, was PERFECT! He did such a great job and really helped me feel good about such a dramatic change. Scheduling was a breeze on their website and they helped me find the right styling product to get the look I was after. 11/10! Could not recommend Syd’s Hair Shop highly enough. You will not be disappointed.

I have been here multiple times and have had mixed experiences with different barbers. The first two were some of the best that I’ve had and they were honestly just amazing. However, after a recent visit I must change my review. The stylists name was Ashely I think and I came in with the hair style that I’ve had for what feels like forever now. I told them to keep it the same was it was but to just make it shorter since it had gotten much too long for me. They seemed to understand and even said “so just a trim then.” I thought that it would be great, and to be fair the washing experience was amazing. However, after that it just got worse and worse. The first try was horrible. And that’s a word that I would hate to use since it just makes me feel bad. However its really just the truth. I told them the problem and they said that they would fix it, however they had already cut it to almost too short. This meant that the hair ended way too short (which is forgivable, since it’ll just grow back) but on top of that, the style was just completely different and I’m far from satisfied. I identify as male, however I look like a girl now. (I have a hair style now that I’ve only ever seen on girls before) and I don’t know what made them think that this is what I wanted. Its embarrassing to me. In conclusion, I would recommend the stylists that I have had in the past but I just cant say that all of them are as good as those that I’ve previously had.

Got a haircut here and it was kinda disappointing. I specifically asked if since I was getting my hair cut short if adding a curtain bang cut would make it look thin and they said no. It now looks very thin in the front because she added “layers” to the front half of my head and only there. The curtain bangs arnt at the right height and are more of a long layer which looks really off considering it is framing my face.

I went to Syd’s a few times, and was generally happy with the cuts I got. The last time I went though, the stylist cut my hair 6″ shorter than what I requested. The appointment started 40 minutes late, and the stylist suggested we cut some length before she washes my hair so she doesn’t have to wash hair that won’t stay on my head. In retrospect it was a terrible idea and I should have said no. She cut way too much in that initial cut, and there was no going back. It was heartbreaking, losing a year worth of length. I have another friend who had a similar experience in their shop, where the stylist didn’t have enough time to dye their hair with a double process, resulting in the new color being barely noticeable.

Leah was my stylist, and she was amazing! She was sweet, patient and very confident. have been to many salons that could not do black women’s hair but this Salon had no trouble. The other stylists I interacted with briefly was Bradley when he gave out some tips and he was very polite and cheerful. I recommend this place to everyone!

I tried out Syd’s today for the first time on the recommendation of a few friends. I am so glad I did! I used the online booking, which is great for me because I’m super weird about talking to actual people . I selected any stylist and I am so glad I got linked up with Tori! She was great, she has that slow, calming, methodical vibe that really put me in a relaxed state of mind. I showed her what I wanted and we talked about some tweaks to it that would fit my hair and it turned out better than I imagined. The only thing that could have made the experience better would be if it was feasible to nap whilst getting a haircut. I will definitely be back!
