I went to see Danielle after falling down some stairs. I had lost range of motion in my neck and was having tension headaches. By the time I decided I needed help I was desperate. Danielle provided pin pointed massage on my neck and head over several sessions. I literally felt relief with the first two appointments. I’ve always believed in the power of massage therapy and thanks to Danielle’s expertise all my pain went away and I got my range of motion back. I’m forever grateful for her knowledge and expertise in helping in my healing. Highly recommend!!

I had a severe flu the morning of my massage and canceled, as you should to not spread it. She texted me and told me I should have texted instead of called because she might have been able to fill the spot. I understood completely and apologized and felt really bad. I had weekly massages scheduled and when I showed up to my next one, I was asked how I was feeling and I said I felt great. I had been symptom free for 3-4 days, worked all weekend, and felt completely better. I don’t know why it didn’t end there. She said, “Okay??? Well I just don’t know what you had and just have to go based off what you say so I don’t know….” making me feel extremely awkward. She made me feel like she didn’t believe me, either I wasn’t sick when I canceled, I was still sick and she was afraid of me, or both. Idk she was having all sorts of delusional made up thoughts about me, a completely innocent person just wanting a massage to relax on my one day off. She then told me she was upset because the person the day before I canceled was a no call no show and I said well that has nothing to do with me. She also said she was stressed because she had to move rooms and I just felt like it was taken out on me. She then said she might have to cancel the appointment because I was coming off as angry and emotional, probably because I felt shamed and bullied and she felt my defensive energy, something I had every right to have. I told her I was great before I saw her. She ended up doing the massage, but I felt awkward and cried during it and on my way home, completely taken aback by all of that. I also made a suggestion when I walked in to work mostly on my right shoulder blade area and she said, “Well you wrote down right shoulder, neck, and base of skull so I’m just going off what I read.” Okay… I have multiple parts of my back that are in pain but I’m nicely asking you to work on one spot, no need to get defensive and make me feel stupid for writing down a few different areas. I canceled my upcoming appointments because, at the end of the day, they are all trained the same and I can find someone else.

Best massage I’ve ever had! Danielle is great about focusing on each person’s problem areas in addition to an overall massage. She’s also not afraid to get in and get those knots out. She also took the time to explain things to me and what would help relieve my muscle tension. She’s very friendly and professional. I can’t say enough good things about Sunshine Massage!

Danielle is simply the best. I’ve seen multiple people in Ames and Des Moines, and Danielle is the most personable and has the best technique. She takes her time in getting to know your issues and can feel them within seconds of beginning. She coaches you through breathing during deeper tissue massaging and adjusts pressure as needed. I can’t recommend her enough. It’s hard to find a quality massage therapist and to have an independent one so talented in Ames is a real treasure!
