There are not enough words to describe how pleased I am with Sugar Braids! I found them on Instagram and reached out for a microloc consultation. I loved the energy and professionalism I experienced and the consultation and decided to book with them. They were able to get me in a few days later. For a style that’s supposed to take anywhere from 22+ hours, they had me washed, steamed, and done in under 8!

Sugar braids guise themselves in healthy natural braid experts but truthfully they aren’t. Most of the braiders themselves do not have healthy hair. I came in asking if they could do a specific hair braiding technique which would allow for a easy hair removal, you would literally just pull the braid out. I allowed them to do this to my hair because the owner assured me that she and her braiders knew what they were doing… she lied. My natural hair prior to coming to her shop was very very healthy. After the braid removal process I lost so much hair. These people are simply braiders not cosmetologist so they don’t really understand hair health etc. I would say if you are looking to grow out your hair don’t choose them. Go to braiders but preferably hair stylist whose own hair reflects their healthy hair techniques.

Unless you can confirm the price BEFORE they start your hair, I cannot recommend this braider. They are beyond unprofessional when it comes to pricing. I have been to this location three times and every single time it’s been a discrepancy about price despite having their prices and styles listed online. And normally that wouldn’t be enough to give such a low rating but in addition to the changes in price, they’re often late to start your hair as their braiders don’t arrive on time. They will also speak to you condescendingly when you ask questions about the pricing or add-on services. With that being said, their work is nice. They can grip short hair and they do try to make sure your hair is moisturized throughout the process. They also won’t braid your edges. (A few of my braids came out the first two times but iI think it was because my hair was short.) I will absolutely never go back here because I don’t tolerate being gaslit about pricing, so go at your own risk. You may leave with a nice style, but it will be $75-100 more than what you were expecting to pay.

If you want to spend $450 for Smedium knotless butt length braids that’ll last you 3-4 weeks this is the place to go. My daughter had a bad experience there where she waited an hour to get her hair braided & they never communicated price until after which was unreasonable for medium mid back knotless now looking back. I came back for the same hairstyle, showed my stylist a photo of the hair I expected that I always got only to be surprised with a crash cost after. They don’t communicate prices before hand then throw random high unreasonable prices at you when done your braids. I liked this establishment when they were fairly new but I’ve been back 4x and have had negative experiences each time with the over pricing, waiting & miscommunication. And to think I referred people to them. I missed 2 appointments scheduled & found out from my stylist it was a good thing I didn’t go Saturday clause you guys were super busy & people were there all day plus she’s the only stylist who does good knotless & she was off Saturday. My daughters hair was a mess after 2 days when done by someone else & you charge her adult prices $350+ – you only charged $200 last time cause I said she was 12. I won’t be back.
