I have been coming to Studio 890 for a few years now the Salon itself- super modern, clean, and chic. I went in for a color and cut by Nikki since I am going on vacation in a couple of weeks. This was my second consult with her as my previous hairstylist was no longer with them. I never had a horrible experience with them like I did this past week. I informed her I wanted to incorporate more blond as my ends were still light brown and showed her a picture of what I wanted. I also explained how I wanted my haircut, trim my ends only with long layers and face framing. Nikki started placing foils in my hair and started the lighting process. You can not place foils and bleach however and expect good results. When lighting process was done my ends were still left brown and she stated she couldn’t get that hair lightened. Toner was placed and the color I was left with was a dark gray, white, ash blond color with brown ends. I believe the color was even darker than what I had prior to coloring. In the past I would look at a couple of swatches before toner was placed. We started the haircut and she proceeded to shear off the brown ends thinning my hair out BADLY. I have the smallest ponytail now as she really did cut off all my hair. I was left with a mullet on the back and missing the front length to my hair. I came in 2 days later to try and correct (last 4 pictures) and went with a darker blond hoping to get rid of the different tones. D was the sweetest and really truly wanted to help, but my hair was passed saving as the haircut couldn’t be fixed. I was advised to let it grow back and to come back to get haircut corrected. I consulted with Tim (Owner) wishing to be refunded as this experience was so upsetting. He believed this to be a miscommunication, I did not agree as I explained to Nikki and even showed her a picture. He informed me no refund would be issued do to policy, I was left feeling really terrible after that conversation. I will have to continue to wear a beanie and my hair in a clip as this does not grow over night and will be looking for a new hair salon.

The salon is beautiful and clean. The waiting area is comfortable and offers beverages like water and coffee. I felt incredibly comfortable with my stylist, Karissa, conversation was natural and easy. She made sure she understood what I wanted for my haircut and had great advice about products I did and didn’t need to care for my hair, which ended up saving me money.

I’ve always had a great experience with this salon until yesterday. I am very disappointed and embarrassed of my hair. I had shown the stylist a picture of what I wanted (a lighter brown with auburn throughout) to which she replied she couldn’t attain that exact color with my hair. She then gave me suggestions of what she could do to get close to the color I wanted. I was all for it and told her to do what she thought was best to get me close. At the end of it, I walk out of the salon with blonde highlights. At first I thought it’s okay this doesn’t look too bad. I just washed my hair today and the color of the highlights turned almost bleachy blonde and there are definitive lines where she started the highlight of the top of my head. She did not go down enough to my scalp, it looks like I’ve had outgrowth for a month. I’m horrified. I paid $275 for this cut and color and I was left with nothing even close to what I wanted or asked for. I now am going to another salon to get them fixed. I’ve never had something like this happen with my hair, and I’ve been coloring it for years.

My son went here from a recommendation. He brought a photo of what he wanted. He stated he wanted to keep 2 inches of length in the back. His hair was almost 14″ long when this so-called hair stylist started her butchering process.She shaved over his ears and it was not blended and the sides were uneven and didn’t match. She shaved the back so no 2 inches. He has professional pictures on Monday and had to drive back to college. I wish I knew they didn’t use trained hair stylists.We expected better. Now to fix it he will have to go shorter all the way around. I’m glad we know a real hair stylist, we should never of went here and trust me, people now know you use untrained staff. Not what he wanted.

Very disappointed, take your business elsewhere!! I typically do not review places, but this place provided me with a really awful experience. I came in to get my hair slightly highlighted right before the holidays. The next day after washing my hair (with color protectant shampoo), I ended up with blotchy, unevenly colored hair! I was sincerely embarrassed to wear my hair down. It looked like I had done a hair coloring kit at home. Not to mention, feeling upset about having spent $225 for this result.

Mark is the best to work with my long, thick, brown”ish” hair. He has been my stylist/colorist for 15+ yrs. He lightens my hair & cuts out all the “bulk”. I came in for a haircut and color which turned out to be a disappointing experience. Stylist didn’t communicate pricing for additional hair color during the consultation or actual appointment and I had a surprise charge when paying my bill. She also didn’t listen to how I wanted my hair colored. The salon was nice enough to accommodate me and give me additional highlights, however, the highlights do not fit with the balayage style that is in my hair. New customer. Won’t return.

All three of these ladies did an incredible job flawlessly executing exactly what my sister and I had envisioned! Not only that, everyone at the Studio was so kind.
