Steven Papageorge Salon is a full service hair salon in Evanston, Il 60201. We have been in business for over 30 years and have thus established a great relationship with the Evanston community along with other Chicago North Shore communities. Many of our stylists were even trained at Steven Papageorge Hair Academy resulting in a great education and work ethic. As a salon, we strive to make you happy from the moment you walk in the door and only succeed in our jobs when you leave with a smile on your face. We specialize in blonde balayage highlights, brunette balayage highlights, foilyage, teaselights, corrective hair color, women’s haircuts, men’s haircuts.

I have been coming to Steven Papageorge Hair Salon for 6+ years now and I’ve always left the salon happy! Over the years I have colored my hair both lighter and darker (I’ve gotten highlights, balayage, teasy lights, etc.). I’ve also gotten various different hair cuts. Not only do I always love my cut and color no matter the style, but the stylists are attentive, friendly and truly care about my hair! They’ve given me advice on how best to take care of my hair and what styles will suit me best. I won’t go to any other salon after coming here!

Good haircut, not amazing. For the price, I’d expect more, but my issue is with the service. The times I’ve been in, the front desk attendants seem blasé and unwilling to help. They recently raised prices, but did not inform patrons. When I asked, no one could give me a straight answer about why I was charged what I was charged. In terms of the overall experience, they continue to insist that because of covid, they can’t offer water, coffee, tea, wine (mainstays for all salons I have been to in Miami and New York before moving to Evanston). It’s bizarre – Hardly any customers are wearing masks, so this seems like a cost saving mechanism more than anything. The last time I went in was truly disappointing, since my stylist was running 30 minutes behind. I informed them I had other appointments that day and was leaving for my honeymoon the next day, so I had to get a move on. No water for the wait, and their answer after 20 minutes of waiting was to have a front desk employee (who seemed irritated that I had interrupted her conversation) wash my hair, which was a debacle in and of itself, since I specifically wanted a special treatment for my hair. I had to have my hair washed twice, and I ended up leaving without a blow dry because of their terrible timing. I left feedback on their internal feedback form, but received no response. I doubt anyone is checking.

I scheduled my appointment more than two weeks ago for a haircut and babylights. After getting my haircut I was told I was not scheduled for babylights. I was confused and explained that I had emailed and confirmed my appt on the phone-I had to call and make a deposit as a new client. The receptionist asked to see the emails detailing what I wanted and then apologized for the mistake. She tried to find a new appointment for me but it was pointless. I couldn’t get in before my sister’s wedding, which is why I scheduled everything for today. Really sad and disappointed.
