I am giving a one star because I cannot give ZERO stars. On Tuesday – I made an appointment for Friday with Misty to sew my extensions back, telling her I needed to leave NY next day Saturday and I really needed her. A few hours before my appointment she texts me cancelling bc she worked 5 days straight – no apologies. I asked her to make good on her word and she said she had family engagements. I have never been treated this way by a salon ever.

I never, ever, ever bother with reviews which you can see when you select my name. But, I just have to say my experience was literally the complete opposite of other negative reviews on here. I’m temporarily in St Helena for the winter and went into the Salon to pick up some the shampoo I use. Sara was super helpful, AND we got to chatting and I booked in for a root touch up. I figured, why not…..I felt the blonde highlights had gotten too brassy and with natural curly hair I was worried about agreeing to a hair cut. But it’s just hair I thought, let’s give this a whirl. Well, I felt like I was in a hair make-over show, when I twirled around in my chair….my hair was perfection! I almost cried! I definitely hugged her….the color is stunning and the cut…..well, I could be in a shampoo commercial, seriously. It’s always nerve-wracking to go see a new stylist, I think Sara was more nervous than me! But it really came out beautifully. I would recommend Sara to anyone, and I don’t know anyone here so I hope this review finds you when you are deciding whether or not to stop in.

I patronized this shop for years in an effort to shop local. The last time I was in I inquired about cruelty free (not tested on animals) hair products. I was openly mocked and made fun of by an old blonde woman who I think is part of the new ownership as well as Sara Chappellet and a customer. They kept making snide comments about me to each other and to me. I don’t think my question was out of line. I was just trying to shop in line with my values. For a store that’s closed on Saturday to observe the Sabbath (for a religion that is vegetarian), it seemed absurd for them to treat me that way.
