I usually go to the Colonial Heights location, but due to time restrictions, I switched to the Chester location. I have nothing but great things to say about the stylists that have cut my hair. Being a female going into a known “male” hair cutting facility because I have a short short haircut, and not everyone can do it, but if familiar with a short hair cut such as a men’s haircut, they are spot on and always make sure to soften it up to make it looks feminine and not like the box, straight edge look men tend to get. The ladies are always friendly and knowledgeable about styles and products.

Brought my two youngest boys in for a trim only. I even showed both stylists the exact cut I wanted for the boys on my phone. The first stylist was pleasant and accommodating. She did exactly as I asked. The second had an attitude from the off. She cut my youngest child’s hair while reprimanding him and acting as though she couldn’t be bothered to be kind to a five year old. He was entirely still. He didn’t even speak while sitting three. She decided to give him the cut SHE wanted, which was easier and more “boyish”. I could tell she had a problem with longer hair on boys. I kept checking his face while she was working and he looked SO sad. When I went to pay, there was only an option to tip BOTH stylists. I didn’t mention his hair or her attitude while I was there because I didn’t want to upset my child. I asked if HE liked it and he said yes. So I didn’t feel as though I should confront her. I just paid and left. But I will never agree to Destiny cutting my kids’ hair again. The two stars are for the other stylist who was excellent and really child friendly.

Critical: Quality, ValueThis was my 1st time visiting.Came in by way of family member referral.The service was initially good, & stylist was friendly.(Shampoo, Massage Chair, Cut, Beard Trim/Shaping, Style, Hair Care Products “Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair & Beard Cream, Hair Pomade”, Tip Given etc.)However, throughout the experience, the friendly nature of the conversation seemed to indeed shift.It became more about catering/or services leaning towards the eventual amount of products that could be Up-Sold/Gotten out of the customer, in addition to the cost of service’s given, at checkout…Rather than if the customer was indeed happy with the service/actual Hair Cut recieved.I purchased Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair & Beard Sculpting Cream, & Pomade.Much more so than I would normally/usually purchase when getting my haircut.Plus I asked for Shampoo & Conditioner in 1 bottle mixed together, in a smaller size,but instead was given 2 separate Shampoo & Conditioner in much larger more costly bottles.Though didn’t realize until I left the establishment.The cost of the products was “Atleast”half the cost of the total bill.Much more so than “ANY” other establishment I’d ever visited.In “Any” state I’ve either visited/ lived in.When I got to my destination….(& I went directly there from Sports Clips, no additional stops where made)…I noticed all bottles/ containers had some small puncture spots, & was causing to leak, quite a bit more so with the Shampoo & Conditioner.There was nothing damaging that could’ve happened to the product in the bag, riding in the vehicle, the little time it took to get back, then to take out of the bag & place containers in shower & on shelf.While I understand the business doesn’t make, or fill the product themselves, they do up-sell it throughout the entire service.For its cost, the bottles should be checked before selling to the customer.The customer’s themselves should not have to check for leaks or damage before leaving the establishment.Especially for the cost of service & products purchased.I left a very detailed message.Waited “Several” days for someone, anyoneto get back with me before leaving my review.Sports Clips could’ve had repeat business from myself, & I would’ve suggested to other family & friends to visit too.Now I will probably never go back, & will share my experience with others.As I pretty sure an Employee or MGR does indeed check the voicemails, & made a conscious decision to not get back to me.I’m guessing because they already got my money & don’t care if the customer is satisfied or not.(Cost of Shampoo, Massage Chair, Cut, Beard Trim/Shaping, Style, Products Purchased, & Tip Given).I’m also guessing if a response is finally made, it will be because a negative review was left publicly.Where as they probably weren’t concerned with taking the time or effort, to take care of the customer, especially being my 1st visit, just by me leaving a voicemail alone.Decided why bother, they got my money, & just to simply ignore said issue.They may have gotten my money once, that’s fine.Though they must realize this is “Not” a good look for a businesses continuing success, or it’s longevity.As word of mouth, public or social media post, does & can either help or hinder future potential revenue.They will never get my $ again. Critical: Professionalism, QualityI first want to start off by saying I had found a stylist at this location that I wanted to stay with. I called Monday morning on memorial day and asked to set an appointment with that stylist. There was a hint of distain when the girl told me she no longer worked there. When I asked to set up an appointment they would not confirm they would be open as late as 2pm. I left home to run my errands a little early and when I arrived they were still open.When I finally sat down in a chair I had shown 3 photos of a haircut all of the same style just at different lengths. I communicated how I wanted to achieve that look but the girl doing my hair just completely ignored everything I said. She didn’t attempt to clarify any misunderstanding so I assumed she knew exactly what I was saying.But them she begins cutting hair where she wouldn’t need to. I reminded her that I will be training my hair to lay back rather than to the side. Instead of working towards that she suggested that I go home and try to see if I can get it to do so. Basically I am supposed to allow her to cut my hair and wait until I go home to style it and hope it works?I had to frantically call around the city to find someone who would be willing to take me in and fix the mess this negligent girl made of my hair. Thankfully it was salvageable and I have an awesome haircut now.The point here is that she was far too concerned with going home that she didn’t bother to try and help me achieve the look I set in there for. The staff here is great, especially Angela as she did a great job cutting my hair. She listened to what I wanted as it was different from what I normally get. She made sure she didn’t miss anything, she was super friendly and I was relaxed during the whole experience.

Understaffed, long wait times, inconsistent scheduling, and strange patrons. I’ve been getting my hair cut here for nearly 6 months now. This is mostly due to the fact that I keep falsely convincing myself that the experience will get better next time. Well… it doesn’t. Average wait time for me is 25-30 mins to be seen by a stylist and sometimes longer! This isn’t a 5 star salon or professional straight razor fresh shave barbershop. It’s designed to be a slightly above average version of great clips or super cuts! I usually get my haircut on the weekend due to my work schedule. Saturday’s at 1:30pm there will be ONE stylist cutting hair, running the register, cleaning up equipment. Meanwhile the “next in line” wait time board exceeds 2 hour wait times. Frequently the stylists will tell people to simply leave and come back later because wait times will exceed their hours of operations. And it’s not like the waiting area is packed. 4 or maybe 5 people waiting and one guy in the chair. They need to increase their staffing, especially on the weekend when most people tend to get their hair cut. Also, if you like a stylist, prepare to jump through hoops to synchronize with their schedule to get another cut by them. The stylist hours are sporadic and often times stylists only work there for a few weeks or month before leaving, ensuring you’re hardly ever going to get cut by the same person regularly. Finally, I don’t know what it is about this location, but some strange people get their haircuts here. Twice now a gentleman has been there while I’m getting my haircut. One time he was drunk and apparently got a ride from Hooters where he had been drinking all day. The stylist (i believe) knew him personally and tolerated some pretty inappropriate conversations that were loud enough for all to hear… the second time I saw this gentleman he rushed across the parking lot to beat me into the salon. He, again, sat down with the same stylist (who was the only employee working that Saturday) and proceeded to get a high and tight that took 45+ minutes! The salon started to fill up with other people and after 45 minutes I finally stood up and walked out. 3 other customers followed me. The stylist and guy getting the high and tight were just casually talking and were having personal conversations dragging on the haircut. That was the final straw for me and have not been back since. Additionally, some other very questionable patrons go there who have some very unhygienic habits, however this is not the fault of Sports Clips, just simply an observation.
