I typically don’t review things. I have been going to sports clips for years and appreciate the hard working stylists. Today I followed all the check in a rule guidelines, waited for my 58 minutes. I even checked the wait list time just in case anything changed. Arrived before the updated time. Checked in, and they changed my time to add another 2 hours and 14 minutes. Went to ask why the time changed and was immediately given a laundry list of explanations that had nothing to do with my experience or what I had done. No chance to even say what happened. What makes matters worse, and the reason I’m writing this review, was it appeared some new individual, potentially from corporate or ownership, assisted the first person in talking over me and telling me all the things I could have did wrong. In the end, it was poorly handled and I was given no good options to fix it. Despite this, the stylist herself always did a good job so I will be disappointed to change places I do business.

I was greeted and treated very professionally. The haircut was meticulous and the wash and massages were an unexpected benefit. The place is very clean and comfortable. It was obvious from the interactions amongst the employees that they like each other and are professional. This was my first visit to a Sports Clips and I am glad that I followed the recommendation. It’s the best haircut I’ve had in a long time!

Service at this location seems to decline each time we visit. Last visit (1 week ago) took both of my boys there, requested their haircut and blended from short sides to 1″ long top. Stylist undercut their hair and left the top 2-3″ long. Spent $60, then spent another $40 at another shop to get it fixed right because the sportsclips stylist couldnt figure it out. The entire time we were treated poorly and the stylist seemed to not want to be there and agitated that there was a waiting list. North Ankeny does a good job and is only a short drive away, recommend them.

I went in with my 19month old son, and when he wanted to switch what parent he was sitting with the hair dresser did not miss a beat! She let him feel the clippers before he started, chatted with both parents while his hair was getting done. Made sure we both knew what kind of cut he was getting, and made sure we were both good with it! So patient with a tired toddler. There was also a man that came over to help and interact with him while my son got his hair done and it helped so much! Most of the hair dressers in there commented on how good it looked and they just made us feel very welcome! They were completely swamped at the time we went in but were still so patient, kind and just in an all around good mood! I also saw how they interacted with other customers around them and everyone there was just so up beat and you could tell they loved what they were doing and wanted to make sure everyone was happy when they left! There were a few kids getting their hair done and they all did so well with them! I also LOVE that they put notes in under the customers name so I don’t have to try and remember what it’s all called! Our stylist was named Kate and she was absolutely FANTASTIC!
