I used to LOVE this salon. I’ve been going for about 5 years, even had Linda do the makeup for my wedding. About a year ago, I showed up to my scheduled appointment for a brow wax and left my husband in the car figuring it couldn’t take more than 15-20 minutes. Wrong. I wait there for 40 minutes past my appointment time. My husband is in the car for almost an hour waiting. I decide that maybe walk-in is better if I’m going to wait so long, it may as well be on my schedule. I try walking in on and off for about a year, calling ahead to make appointments, etc and each time I’m told no one is available. This week, I walk in and am greeted by a very snooty male who asks if I have an appointment (was as if I wasn’t welcome inside if I didn’t). I explained I was hoping for a quick brow wax on walk-in. He rolled his eyes and got on the computer to look if Linda had any appointments later, which she did not. He acted like he could put himself out by going in the back to ask Linda if she had some time in half an hour (she was with a client), but never actually did. I was told at one point that she had time in about half an hour when she finished with her client (which I was totally willing to wait for or make an appointment for) but when I asked to make an appointment so I could run a quick errand, I was told none were available. I was offered another day, but I was unable to return to town that day. At this point, I let the desk staff (now the male and a woman) know that I’d been trying for some time to get services and I was getting frustrated. The staff blamed me for not calling ahead and making an appointment when everything says you take walk-ins, not to mention my previous experiences of trying to make appointments (usually a week or so in advance). And I felt the walk-in I had been offered had been rescinded simply because I wanted to make the most of my time in town. The whole time I felt judged on my appearance, like my clothes weren’t expensive enough and I wasn’t put together enough in my messy bun to deserve good service. Linda is great, but this staff needs work. Locals are your bread and butter, don’t screw it up!

Linda is the absolute BEST in the whole town of Taos! She’s so good that I haven’t been to her in years (moved from Taos) and I still think about how awesome my hair looked when I was going to her. I drove back to Taos once just to have my hair done because I can’t find anyone in Santa Fe that does it right. Linda will spend five hours (if needed) making sure everything turns out perfect. I highly recommend Sprits of Beauty!
