I really should’ve paid better attention to the star ratings before I went and spent $150+ tip here. The place is filthy. None of the surfaces look like they are ever wiped down. My daughter also got her first set ever and she wasn’t sitting near me. Her nails are uneven and awkwardly shaped and filed for $58. While the lady who helped my daughter did seem very friendly, she did cut up some of her cuticles and made her bleed. I am happy with my set minus the fact that there are two hairs literally UNDERNEATH the finish on my nails. I didn’t realize it until I got home because they lady helping me was not using a lamp so the lighting was terrible. But, that’s the level of filth and dust floating around in there. One of my tips was place crookedly and the lady seemed irritated that I requested it please be redone. Just didn’t feel like spending $50 on my only set of nails in over 3 years to leave with one being crooked 🙁 I asked 3 times for matte finish and then she placed shiny finish and when I asked for matte finish for the 4th time she was once again irritated and told me “she needs to know in advance.” Although I had already asked 3 times. The “manicure” she gave me consisted of a water drop size of lotion and a couple of rubs on the inside middle area on my palm. She did not lotion my hands or arms. She was rude and not helpful in anyway. I was really looking forward to this salon trip and having a relaxing experience but unfortunately it felt more dirty and uncomfortable. The lady who did my pedicure was very friendly and helpful and took her time to do a nice job and although I got the lowest package, she took her time with the massage. However, The overall experience will not bring me back.

When I arrived there was a cockroach on the floor and I waited 30 total minutes after my appointment time. The lady was very rough, quick, and messy when doing my nails. They aggressively buffed and filed my nails until my cuticles were bleeding and continued to put acetone on them. They grinded the nails down until I could feel it through my skin and they did not communicate throughout the entire appointment.the color I chose dyed my skin around the nail. They did not do a good job prepping or taking care of me. However the nails did turn out well i am just in pain now and will probably not be going back.

My first experience with a pedicure at this business was great. The technician did a great job, took her time, was pleasant, and I was very satisfied overall. My second experience last week was quite the opposite. A male technician was called up from the back and obviously was called out of his smoke break. I was not greeted, he handed over the color wheel and asked if I wanted shellac. I said “no thanks, just regular”. He asked if I was sure and I said that I was. That was the last time he communicated with me. He rushed through the entire process and when he was finished he got up and walked over to the next client. I sat waiting for it to dry. After 20 minutes he had passed my chair many times and never checked in or even looked my way. Finally another technician came to check if I was dry and sent me on my way. A week later my polish is chipping on 4 different nails. Not impressed and probably won’t be back.

I brought in an example of a nail I hope to come out with. When she clipped off the acrylic I thought OK it’s short but she can probably still make the shape I was looking for. When she asked me how the first nail looked I said it doesn’t look anything like this one showing her the one I brought in …She said “Oh wait till we’re done.” Giving her the benefit of the doubt I said OK. We walk in ten minutes before our appointment that we made the day before and said we will be right with you. Then we sat there for 35 minutes and they weren’t ready for us. Then three girls and their mom walk in and they take them right away. We had places to be so we left and didn’t even get lit nails done. Manicure

I had an appointment at Pella spa today I hadn’t been there for a while thought I would try them again. My appointment was at 12:30 I waited 15 minutes or so longer which was no problem I had asked if I could get a lady to do my nails well that didn’t happen so the gentleman that did my nails I had to tell him I wanted my nails shorter so he starts filing away I said do you have a clipper that might help and go a little bit faster oh yes he said I do! I asked him if he would do my cuticles he did that. But what I don’t understand is the two nail salon‘s that we have in Pella employ all oriental people which is fine but when they start communicating in their tongue and you know they’re talking about you that’s the last time I give them any of my business. Today when I got up to pay it was 60 some dollars which I thought was a little bit on the high side just for a manicure and a nail color and I told the gentleman that I was sorry but I didn’t have any cash for a tip but could I put it on my credit card or debit card and he didn’t answer me. So when the transaction was finished he didn’t say thank you he didn’t say anything the only thing he said was something in his tongue to the gal doing someone else else’s nails right next to us and I know it was about that tip . I don’t know why those to Nail Salon And’s cannot be better at giving customer service. Both places have terribly rude people. So needless to say I am going to be taking my business back to Altoona to top nails and the name of the business says it all. I will not go back to special nails in Pella.
