I recently had a bad and strange experience at this salon. I went there as a new customer to schedule a pretty straightforward cut and color. The person at the front desk said they had an appointment the next day. They said the stylist was young and new but that they thought they could do my hair. They were very wrong. I told the young stylist that I wanted to lighten my hair color all over instead they prepared a root touch up and highlights which is not what I wanted. I wanted to lighten all of my hair a shade or so. This stylist’s hands shook while she worked on my hair. She seemed very unsure of herself and it almost seemed like she didn’t really like styling hair. I was very patient and friendly to her the whole time. I showed the stylist pictures of the kind of hair cut I wanted and she said ok. When she got me out from under the hair dryer (which blew cold air by the way) the young stylist told me that another stylist was going to cut my hair while she watched to see how it was cut. The other stylist seemed less than enthusiastic about doing that but they did it. The coloring and cut turned out ok but it does not look like a $150 cut/style which is what they charged me!!! And I couldn’t believe that the first stylist could not do a basic haircut. After I paid, the young stylist told me that she would have to schedule my next appointment when she and the stylist who cut my hair were both there because she needed to watch again how the haircut was done. I won’t be returning to this salon. The whole thing was strange. This is something that might happen at somewhere like Great Clips not somewhere like this salon that sells itself as a higher end salon. I can’t afford to pay $150 for someone to learn how to do something they should already know how to do.

Laurie cut my long, virgin hair that is mostly wash, air dry & go. She listened to my concerns. No attempts to upsell or pressure, just a talented professional giving a great cut that has great movement without sacrificing length ♀️

Critical: Professionalism, ValueI have never paid 200.00 for a color. My daughter was taken advantage of with her first experience in this salon. Erica never told her how much the color would cost, did her hair and then charged her 200.00 for a color that looked unprofessional. Erica stated she did not give a price as she didn’t kow what she was getting into. Cant you look at a person’s head and know the cost of color. Really??? The owner felt this was okay and would not even take the time to listen to my complaints. I will never recommend this place to any friends or family and will make sure they are aware of the unprofessional and outrageous cost. My sister had scheduled a prenatal massage twice. The first appointment she was called the day of and told it was canceled due to a funeral, of which she graciously understood and rescheduled. The second time (this evening) she showed up only to be told by the receptionist “sorry there are no massages tonight and I don’t see you in the books.” Even though she admitted that yes, she did remember her calling to schedule. This was the same receptionist that 2 months prior had claimed to place a makeup order that would be in “in 2-3 weeks”. She never did call back. My sister ordered elsewhere. When your sister is pregnant, has been looking forward to a massage for weeks, has her husband leave work early to stay home with the children so she can make the SCHEDULED appointment and then shows up only to be told “oops sorry”! Then leaves in tears. Well, you’re going to hear from the other sister. This is very unprofessional, irresponsible and disappointing. We will not be back anytime soon.

I have been going to this salon for years. It is wonderful. The inside of this aged building is awesome. My hair stylist Nichole is fantastic. Her specialty is hair color. If you want to b treated like a queen spent some time at Special Effects.
