I cannot express how happy I am to have found Kim and Soultry Scissors! After a couple of harrowing experiences at another salon, (Kim says I’m lucky to still have hair on my head after what was done!), I searched for another establishment that worked with natural hair and saw the glowing reviews for Soultry Scissors, so scheduled an appointment in September. Kim subsequently reached out to me because she had to reschedule my appointment, at which time she asked me what services I wanted. I told her I had no idea since my hair was in such bad shape. She asked for pictures, which I sent her, and we decided on a plan of action. When I went to her the first time, she used a gentle color on my hair, gave it a treatment, and shaped it so we could begin to get it back to healthy state. I’ve been to Kim a few times since and I have to say that one of the things I really like about her is that she listens to you!! Although she’s great at what she does, it’s not an ego thing with her, it’s about you and making you feel comfortable. You can tell her what your concerns are and she talks you through how she can address them, giving you alternatives and letting YOU choose which route you want to go. So refreshing! I told her that I came to dread going to the previous salon, but I’m actually excited to come to Soultry Scissors because I know that Kim will: 1) be gentle 2) be kind 3) be professional and 4) be pleasant. Kim’s expert touch gave my hair a long overdue shaping trim. Her kindness and professionalism made it possible for me to receive services without having to navigate stairs or transfer chairs frequently, as my disability makes these things difficult. She made sure I was safe and comfortable, and even walked me out to make sure I was safely with my pickup friend. Plus my hair looks great. Thank you, Kim! I needed a silk press pretty last-minute, and I was surprised to see they had appointments available. I was even more surprised to see there was a 5:30 spot available, which is perfect for my work schedule. I am so blown away by the results! I ended up getting a Shea butter deep condition (I was experiencing extreme shedding), and Kim got me looking phenomenal in under 2 hours (including a last-minute face frame cut). I have long, natural hair so I am EXTREMELY grateful to find someone to take care of my hair and get me out of the shop in a timely manner. She explained all the products she used, and my hair feels GREAT and so lightweight. I showed her some photos of what I wanted with volume, and she executed flawlessly.
