My mother has what some call “curly” hair, but truly, all her life has basically been a big ball of frizz. She’s tried pretty much everything to make her hair “normal”, from the 1960’s until the day she came home from an appointment with Sophie. I couldn’t stop touching her hair… gone was the coarse ball of frizz she’s tried her best to manage, and in its place was soft, straight, “normal” hair. She’s either nothing short of a miracle worker, or one of the most talented hair stylists I’ve ever seen. I can bring in 3 different magazine photos, and say, “I want the back like that one, the sides like that one, and the bangs like this one….” she says, “OK, got it!” And she does exactly what I ask for..and she cuts it in such a way that it grows out really cute, so I don’t really need to get another haircut for 6 months if I don’t want to. My 7 year old daughter gets her hair cut by Sophie too, since she was 3…..nobody could get her to sit still long enough to do it, we even tried those specialty children’s hair cutting places with the carousel horses and little TVs at each Booth….NOPE. she’d wiggle and scream and throw things…so my mom said “try Sophie.” I didn’t go in there with high hopes of my daughter letting Sophie cut her hair, but to my surprise, Sophie had her so are relaxed that she FELL ASLEEP. And I had to hold her head up myself for the rest of the haircut..even the people waiting for haircuts were laughing and “awwwing”. My husband had to carry her out to the car. It was amazing. And the haircut turned out beautiful. Ever since the 3 of us started going to Sophie, we all get stopped in public by people saying they love our hair and asking where we get our hair done. Sophie is a very hard worker and she really cares and wants you to be happy with your hair.

What a wonderful experience. The owner is a beautiful person inside and out. She does great work and she even comes in at 7:30 in the morning to do my hair because I cannot come in at any other time. I have taken my relatives there and they’re as happy as I am with their hair. I recommend Sophie’s salon very highly!

I’ve never been so insulted by a hairdresser. I’ve had my hair done by Sophie a few times and I loved it. The third time she did it my hair turned out gray. I called her and asked if she could fix it. She claimed that it would wash out. It did not. I called again and asked her to please fix it. She told me to wash it out. I was leaving for the weekend and couldn’t have my hair gray. I went in and she said she would put ugly blonde on it. After she put the color on, she told me I could just go home and wash it out!!!!!!! I was dumbfounded. I explained to her that I couldn’t drive with that in my hair. She said she does it all the time. I wanted to make sure my hair was fixed so I stayed. She washed it out and it was a horrible brown. My hair is blonde with low lights. I asked her why she colored it so dark? Her response was to quit complaining!!!! Never in my life have I had a hairdresser be so rude to me!!! I never expected her to blow out my hair. I always left with it wet. I tipped her very well. I’m still in shock how she treated me. If I could give this rating no stars I would. Don’t go here. I never write reviews but If I can stop one person from getting their hair screwed up then it’s worth it!!!

Sophie is an “Amazing” hair designer, she’s the only salon I will and always go to and I live in Eastpointe. Sophie is definitely worth the drive. All my family goes to her. Just love her!

Sophie is awesome! I don’t know how I missed this Hidden Gem for so long, but ever since I discovered Sophie’s Salon I have been coming here exclusively for my haircuts. Her pricing is extremely affordable, and she is very skilled at what she does. Today I came in for a simple trim, and was very satisfied with the results. Horrible at styling hair. Took my daughter here to get a simple style for her senior photos. My daughter wanted a faux hawk. She basically put some product in my daughter’s hair, pulled it up in to a mohawk and told my daughter her hair was too tall. She then patted my daughter’s hair down and said, “How’s that?” It was all of about three minutes worth of work for my daughter’s hair to look exactly like it did when we came in, only now it was sticky. If I could post photos, I would because the work was just shameful.

I went in today to get my roots fixed up before I have my baby in a few weeks, she put in foils, my hair came out straight YELLOW not even close to a blonde, the roots are all blended together it’s not even highlights anymore it’s just straight blonde in the middle, no toner or blending at all. Looks awful and I’m so unhappy… called and explained how unhappy I was with it and she basically said it’ll look better in a few days. Waste of money I’m never going back.
