Wonderful experience with Doan and rest of the staff. I get my hair cut here monthly and they have always been friendly, professional and super nice. I feel like I’m catching up with a friend every time I go. Disappointed to see the recent negative reviews (seems like one person got all their friends to leave the same review) because I have always loved this salon since I started going here.

Critical: ProfessionalismI would not recommend. I saw Doan once before when my hair was shoulder length, a friend recommended her. She did a good job. I went back this weekend and she butchered my hair. I literally have a bald spot at the nape of my neck. I asked her to layer it and keep it natural that I was growing it out. She cut around my head in a completely straight line, then grabbed the clippers. Mind you I asked for no more than an inch off, she cut close to 3. I asked her to stop and almost started to cry and she denied what she’d just done. Another client walked in and she had the assistant take over. She literally did not finish the haircut. I called her back over to fix it and she grabbed chunks of it and started snipping. It is longer on one side than the other with stray pieces all over. It was horrible and she was walked away to the other customer, never said sorry or goodbye. Nothing. Then charged me full price. The entire experience was rushed and she was stressfully talking about her personal life when she chopped my hair. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON.Service: HaircutI would not recommend. Rather than privately discuss that they are not talented enough to do hair of different varieties or actually learn the craft that they went to school for, they decided to publicly discriminate against my friend because she had “ethnic” (their words) hair. Washington DC is a very diverse community that has lots of “ethnic” communities so hopefully if you are looking for a salon you go to those who actually know what they are doing instead. Imagine walking into a hair salon that cannot do hair, you would be frustrated right? Well that is what happened to a dear friend of mine today. Rather than privately discuss that they are not talented enough to do hair of different varieties or actually learn the craft that they went to school for, they decided to publicly discriminate against my friend because she had “ethnic” (their words) hair.
