I went to Chelsea Chester at Sola Salons in Studio 18 and was very clear in what I wanted, and she does NOT listen. I wanted just a basic highlight of blonde and with my natural base color. I’ve been getting my hair highlighted for 30 years and I have never walked out of a salon, after asking for a highlight, and gone home with roots that are dark! She gave me a root melt, which was not what we discussed during the consultation. As she started to do my hair, I commented that I was not familiar with the process that she was using. That should have been a red flag to her that maybe we were not on the same page and she should have stopped and made sure that she understood. At that point she assured me that she knew what she was doing. When it came time to dry my hair, I commented about how dark my roots still were, and she said oh don’t worry it will get lighter as I dry it. She then proceeded to turn me away from the mirror the entire time that she dried my hair, and only showed me the back upon leaving. When I got out to my car, and I pulled my hair away from my face – I could see how dark my roots were and I went right back into the salon. She offered to fix it by adding a few foils and also suggested using a highlight cap. She asked me to trust her in fixing it, but we all know that after a stylist does not listen and does not do what you have asked them to do in the 1st place, it is not right for them to ask you to trust them! Chelsea charged me $250 for a service that I did not ask for and she would not refund my money. Overall this service was $280! I do not recommend her.
