So I went on the recommendation of somebody. The person called and she was like yes, I have an opening have her come now. I walked in and the shop is not clean at all. Not just the normal beauty shop where stylists are working and there may be a little hair on the floor, no this place was DIRTY. I sat down to get my hair done (mask on cause we are in a pandemic) and Soda starts braiding my hair. She is pulling like the little bits of hair at the back of my head to braid. Like, why?!? Other stylists who know better would not put tension on that hair like that. Then she starts coughing and not covering her mouth! Did I say we were in a pandemic? I asked her was she sick and she must have gotten the hint and had two other girls do my hair. I have only gotten my hair braided by Africans years and years ago and really didn’t know it was common to have to people braiding your hair at once. I hated it. One on one side pulling and one on the other side pulling your hair. Never again. Oh and when I came time to pay she was like you can cash app me…ok, no problem. I sent the money and after a couple minutes she was like did you send it, I haven’t gotten it. I checked and I was like yes, it’s sent. She kept saying she hasn’t gotten it like she thought I would send it again. Like, girl no ma’am, you definitely are not about to get two payments out of me. Avoid at all cost.

I use to get my hair braided here often when I attended A&T over a decade ago. Recently, my brother moved near A&T and he gets his hair braided here now too. He recently was paralyzed and Soda accommodates for his disability and is able to wash, blow dry, and braid his hair while in his wheelchair. Not a lot of salons are willing to accommodate or ever have accessible access to their establishment. This location gets a high rating from me because of this.

Critical: Quality, ValueI am very disappointed with the service. I showed a picture of how I wanted my hair and I did not get it…. I am a very easy going person and do not expect anything in life to be perfect. All I can say is that I feel like I was taken a advantage of because I was laughing and joking with the person who was doing my hair…. I knew I felt a lot of air on my scalp but I knew in my heart that paying 180 bucks it was because I have not had a hair braided in about 5 months (not because of what your about to see) I am even more angry because I really didn’t have the money to have my hair braided but I really needed it….. long story short I cant believe she allowed me to walk out her shop knowing what I just paid her 180 and in her heart knowing it was not worth no more then 100 bucks…. I have never had an experience like this before my feelings are very hurt and now I have to deal with it for the next three months. I gave 2 stars because she was kind. Otherwise I would have gave 1. I enjoy going there and always have a pleasant time!! Absolutely LOVE my styles and always get compliments 🙂 This is the VERY FIRST African salon I’ve been to where my style hold up two months and probably more if I decided to!! Normally my scalp would flake up but not when she do it and I’ve been getting braids over 10 years!! Appreciate your service so much Soda!!!!!

I was charged 180.00 for box braids that were suppose to be long and thick…. what I got was uneven and slim braids. As they were doing it I informed her about my concern and they insured me it would look better once finished. It did not. I wouldn’t recommend this shop to anyone. I should have been worried when another previous customer came in to complain about the samething but I didn’t listen to my gut feeling. Beware these women can’t braid and over price.
