Critical: Professionalism, QualityI don’t recommend Skylar at smart style. She’s a sweet girl. I did enjoy conversing with her and the other stylists that worked yesterday evening. This is not a post to judge on character. This is strictly on the services performed.So I went in to get simple highlights and a trim. I’ve attached the pictures of my hair after the service and the pictures of what I showed her. The first full highlight picture she told me wouldn’t work on my box died hair. I understood that. I’ve been getting my hair highlighted for YEARS. So I showed her the second picture. It was a highlighted balayage. She assured me we could do it. At that time she started to go mix product but was stopped by her mom who also works there to make me sign a paper. I didn’t read the paper because I was overjoyed to be getting my frumpy mom hair colored and get this started. I want to make note that my mom has just had hers done here by Amy and didn’t sign anything. Her hair is also previously color treated.So now it’s time to get started. She went to mix the colors that she needed help with because, in her words “color mixing and stuff she’s just gotten used to in the past few months” yes red flag people but I’m a people pleaser. I hate making anyone feel bad so I continued with the service. At that point thinking I’m getting highlights. I realize when my head starts feeling like it has 20lbs Of product on it and she goes to re mix more product that I’m not getting highlights. Another red flag. I should have stopped the service then..but again the people pleaser introvert in me felt uncomfortable. I prayed that it would turn out and I’d love it.Next step after her mixing a 3rd bowl of product to finish me off was to process. My neck was so strained again from the amount of product slopped onto my hair. When she took me to the washing bowl and took the foils off she realized I was orange and yellow so my hair would need toning. She asked another stylist what to use. She advised then left with her shift being over. She went over the formula once more with another stylist. I didn’t mind this but I was scared that she didn’t know how my hair was going to turn out or how the toner would affect it. 10-15 min of toning I was ready for washing and then to the cut. This was the strange part. Instead of a comb she used a brush to cut in my layers bc my hair was still pretty wed and heavy. She didn’t check for evenness on the sides or even attempt to trim the front parts of my hair. Then she blow dried and curled it with a straightener. I knew at the end it wasn’t perfect. But I’m not one to complain. I picked out some purple shampoos because I knew I would need to tone the yellows and orange more. Then came the grand total. Before I reveal the price I want to say. I’m used to my hair color and cut costing over $100. I’m even used to paying $130-$150 with a master stylist. I’m also issued to my highlights needing a second bowl of product mixed up bc my hair is thick. This is not my first rodeo with highlights or a balayage. I’ve been getting these services for years! My grand total was $175 yes I bought product that was $14.99 for the shampoo and $4 for the conditioner on a deal.After paying and nearly fainting with the cost and lack of skill used on my hair I proceeded to go pick up my kids and make the long trip back to my house in Morgantown. When I got home I had the chance to really look at this hair job. I had chunks of greasy spots all throughout the back from either not getting all of the conditioner out or the amount of leave in conditioner she used and the rest of my hair felt like straw. I re washed it with the product I purchased and straightened it so I could really get a sense of what was going on. I knew then that I had to put on my big girl pants and get this taken care of.Is short they refused any time of refund. Only for me to allow them to try to fix it. I politely declined. Check my emails again they cancelled it with no call or anything and no reason. The lady told me i must not have scheduled it right in the store so i was frsutrated when i saw they had cancelled and then lied to me. They were doing coloring so couldn’t get me in. Extremely unprofessional.i alwaya tip well and havent had a haircut in 5 years. . People wonder why moms look the way they do. Thanks for costing me 60$on a babysitter i didn’t even get to use. Second time I arrived at one hour before closing to be told by employees to late for hair cuts. Most business that state hours open til seven or eight serve the customer til that time, then close. Not this shop they close to customers before the listed closing time. Then later I went by the were sitting and talking. Once at opening time and had to wait for them to get in and open up. Change your hours if you can’t work the times listed.

If i could give less than 1 star i would. Worst haircut ive ever gotten in my life. Didnt ask how i wanted my sideburns, or the back of my head. Didnt trim around my ears. Hair length if inconsistent from front to back. Didnt offer me the free shampoo and conditioner.. Literally cut my hair in 5 minutes like i was a sub-par human being.
