I wish I could give them 0 stars. They are a complete JOKE there. I took my son and she hacked his hair up and he had CUTS on the back of his neck. My friend just took her son, who has sensory issues. She told them first thing that he has them and he gets upset. She agreed to cut it. When he started crying, the other hairdresser got annoyed. They MADE HER PAY AND LEAVE WITHOUT CUTTING HIS HAIR. Absolute garbage. Please never go there. Even if you are desperate.

They treat kids with disabilities terribly. Then they get half done and refuse to finish because “they can’t handle it” even tho they were told he had a disability beforehand. Huffing and puffing cuz he’s getting upset. Angie, the stylist and the women that had to go have a cigarette because she was annoyed should all be fired!!! Also looking at other reviews I would never take any child there apparently they’re mean and terrify little kids.

Smartcuts in Elizabethton is a JOKE. B just called me, in tears, leaving there with her two year old son who has sensory processing disorder. She took him for a haircut there today because his usual stylist is not able to cut his hair for a while due to personal reasons. She explained to the stylist at Smartcuts that he has major sensory issues, which makes it more difficult to cut his hair because he gets upset easily. The stylist agreed to do the haircut. Well, just as B had told her, M became upset during the haircut and was moving and crying. Another stylist in the store became agitated, was mumbling under her breath and huffing puffing, and after a while went outside to smoke a cigarette. When she came back inside, was still upset and crying. was then told that they couldn’t finish the haircut, and that she needed to pay for the service and leave, which she did. She called me once she got M to the car, and I have never heard her so upset. If you know B, you know she is one of the calmest, most unbothered people. She asked me to make this status (because i’m a chronic complainer and don’t care ) explaining how upset she is. She said they purposely made her feel guilty about having a special needs child. I called Smartcuts and spoke to a woman named Angie. I asked to speak to the manager an /d was told the manager was not there. Angie immediately started speaking over me and raising her voice, before even attempting to listen to me. Then hung up the phone. Not only did B pay for a service she wasn’t provided, M was discriminated against despite the stylists there being made aware of him having sensory issues. Parents of special needs children should NEVER be made to feel like their child is a burden simply for needing a basic service. This place is disgusting

You should be straight up embarrassed and ashamed at how you treat guests. If a special needs child comes in you should either advise the customer you can’t cut this person’s hair and give referral or give it your all knowing it may be more difficult. shame on you for guilt shaming the mother and treating a child like this

Didn’t cut a little boys hair because he has special needs and still made the mother pay. Very disrespectful. Called for a manger and they would not even let them speak to one.
