I have gone here many times over the years. The last two times I was there, I was charged for things that I had no idea why. So, yesterday I went in to get a fill. I had not been there for 6 weeks; however, my nails had not fallen off but one. I specifically asked SANDY if I would be responsible for nails like that to. She specifically said no. I believed she would just trim and fill the nails. She made the decision to replace all of the nails without telling me there would be an additional price. After all was said and done, I was charged $90 for the fill and pedicure. I will never let her touch my hands again.

Unfortunately I came to Silken Nails yesterday (1/25/19)….worst mistake EVER!!! My regular person (at another place) was out of town and I couldn’t wait…. Anywho… I was not happy with her job on the fill itself.. no shaping ability.. I’m thinking fine… this is not good but will do until I can see my lady. I showed her a picture of the pain job I wanted and asked is she could do it with the colors I choose.. she said yes… the paint job looked like a 6 yr old did it!!…she said “well they don’t work together.. you asked for it!!!” Then acted like it was my fault.. She is supposed to be the professional.. she said she could do it!!!! I asked her to take the polish off (gel so she has to file it off) and I would just paint them at home. I could tell she was starting to get irritated because her next client was there and I was trying no to act out.. ♀️ In the end she filed all the way down to the meat on two of my fingers and had the nerve to ask for payment.

There are much better places to get your nails done in castro valley. I recommend fashion nails and diamond nails, they actually know what they are doing. I went here because my holy grail place was packed and i needed to cut my set as they were a little long. Not only did a guy work on my nails, but he did the worst job ever. All of my nails are uneven, he filed them lopsided!!!, and he even got some of my skin with the sanding machine which hurt terribly. I’m sure if a woman did your nails here they’d turn out much better, but the guy that did mine was too rough and didn’t know what he was doing.

This was my first time at Silken and it will be my last. Nice conversation and hot tea aside, which is not exclusive to this place, I was charged for a ‘deluxe’ mani/pedi when I specifically requested a regular. They did a little extra with the pedi, but not worth the extra charge. And as you’ll notice in the picture I have with this review, when cutting the cuticles on my right pinky finger they made me bleed. I noticed the blood, though more noticed that they didn’t acknowledge it or address it at all. So I was over charged, made to bleed, and they didn’t even soak my hands before they started the mani that they made me bleed from. Suffice to say that I am not impressed and greatly underwhelmed by my experience. I have had much better mani/pedis for much less. With so many other options in the area, though I am not familiar with them all, I can definitely say avoid Silken Nails. I honestly think the 4/5 star reviews are from people who are friends of the staff/business. And the ironic part is that they have a sign in the window by the door encouraging men to come in. Well I’m encouraging men and women to avoid this place.

Really did not clean my cuticle good had to cut a little off my toe myself on my pedi ..they dont use plastic covers like allot of nail salons .. and they have out dated chairs would not go back …

Charged me $30.00 for a gel manicure. I Washed a cup and it is all coming off. Looks like she use regular nail polish.
