I did my FUE transplant with Dr. Canales in April 2021. The results that I see now are amazing. The procedure was very painless. Dr. Canales and their staff are very caring. After 8 months, I see lot of fullness in my hair and transformed look. Post op, Dr. Canales and their team has been taking good care of me. Definitely recommend Dr. Canales for FUE transplant.

I just had my HT from Dr Canales about 10 days ago. As far as the experience and consultation, I felt really assured and more importantly, heard as a patient. He listened to my needs and goals and he came up with a practical solution for my hair loss. The entire team was fantastic and walked me through every step in the process. I was nervous about getting a HT, but after talking to Dr. Canales, he eased my worries and diligently answered my question pre surgery. Intra surgery, the entire team was phenomenal and you can tell they genuinely care about you as a patient. There were numerous technicians looking at viable grafts and I felt pretty comfortable for the 8+ hour procedure. In terms of post op, the team was very quick to answer my inquiries via email and detailed instructions and products were given to me for my discharge home. I’ve been to a few HT consultations prior and felt like the other docs didn’t listen to my concerns and just wanted to expel as many grafts out of me. I would definately recommend Dr. Canales to anyone considering HT. My buddy went to him a year ago and he had tremendous results thus far and was also very satisfied.

My initial consultation with Dr. Canales at the Silicon Valley Hair Institute was in December 2020 and I completed the FUE procedure on August 18, 2021. It took me a while to come to a final decision because I wanted to research and try other methods to “revive” dormant hair follicles. Although the use Rogaine helped in regenerating some of the dormant follicles, the new hair was very thin, and it was very hard to cover the crown area and the uneven receding hairline in the temple areas. I even tried product to conceal the bald areas.

I did my FUE on March 2022 . Dr. Canales & his wife made it completely painless for me. It was very pleasant experience , my pain was even less than 5% during surgery of what I had expected. The pain is less that even receiving COVID shot. The hair technicians Michelle, Ashana, Quynh we’re great and made sure I was completely comfortable during the surgery. I highly recommend this place – 100/100. You even get to watch Netflix, YouTube , amazing prime etc during the grafting process. It’s very relaxing and amazing experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.

Several years ago I did a small hair transplant using the Artis Robotic system. I liked the robot system as I was not too keen on having my scalp cut and a possible scare and they said I was a good candidate for the robot. A few years past and it was obvious that it worked but as I was getting older I needed more hair . It was research time. Dr. Canalis was the main person behind developing the robotic system and the actual inventor ,not to mention credentials from Harvard and Stanford along the way with many years of experience doing this procedure. So I booked for August 2016 and went to have the surgery done. The staff was amazing, was treated very well and was comfortable throughout the surgery. Most of all Dr. Canales was with me during the whole process, start to finish.

My hair loss story goes back 10 years ago. I started with the shedding in my early twenties, so when I first learned about finasteride (1mg pill) and topical minoxidil (5%) I reluctantly decided to give them a try. About a year into the treatment I quit, mostly because I found the whole routine to be a bit annoying (which I later realized was a big mistake) so by age 27 my so-called male-pattern baldness was so advanced that I could no longer hide it so I just gave up on it and shaved my head. Needless to say my self esteem took a big hit but I just made peace with it (or so I thought) About a year later, during a hair transplantation consultation at another office (I had just gone to try and learn more about it) I got offered a new finasteride prescription. I put the whole hair transplant idea on the back burner but started taking the pill again. After 2 years, I realized the pill was doing its job and I was seeing new growth so I started seriously considering hair transplantation as an option. I did some research online and came across Dr. Canales from the Silicon Valley Hair Institute. From the get go I was impressed by his credentials and experience so I sent his office an email inquiry. I was pleasantly surprised that he personally replied to my message so I made an appointment. At some point during the consultation I met Dr. Canales who evaluated my situation and answered my questions. He was very sympathetic and extremely professional; while I was there I never got that feeling like I was being pressured to buy a product or service from him, as it happens often times in these cosmetic clinics. That’s why I decided to have my procedure done there and honestly, I couldn’t not be happier that I did. I had approximately 2200 grafts transplanted from the back of my head onto the top and frontal areas about 2 years ago and the result has been way better than I ever anticipated. I constantly get compliments on my look (people who know about it can’t believe how young and how natural and full and my hair looks and those who don’t can’t even tell I ever had a bald head) On top of it, Dr. Canales has been following up on my progress: answering questions all along and offering advice on how to care for and maintain my new hair. I only have positive things to say about Dr. Canales and his staff: he is truly a hair transplant artist and his expertise and dedication make SVHI the leading authority in hair restoration in the SF Bay Area.

I had been thinking about hair transplant for a long time. I usually don’t write reviews, but my experience I think is common so I thought it would be important to share. I was apprehensive (scared) about hair transplant because I read so many horror stories on the internet. So I took more than 2 years to do my due diligence on this and visited many hair transplant surgeons in California and in Asia . I looked at strip surgery , Fue, and robotic hair transplant. I even thought about going to Asia or Turkey for my procedure. After much research, I decided robotic hair transplant was best for me (I’m a software engineer, I know the precision of robots and how they can enhance human capabilities). I visited many surgeons who advertised themselves as pioneers of the robotic procedure and marketed themselves as knowledgeable. I chose Dr. Canales at the Silicon Valley Hair Institute because he is the ” real deal”:: artistically insightful on aesthetics of hair and the inventor of the robotic hair technology. He educated me on my options, and how he would do the procedure (harvesting of follicles, aesthetic design of my hairiine and his surgical protocol to make sure my hair grows). My impression was that he is very scientific and his procedure process is well thought out. More importantly, his aesthetic and artistic emphasis on my needs was exceptional and gave me confidence. He was very caring about listening to my concerns and gave the time to answer all my questions ( he spent about an hour with me on consultation, then answered all my text and email questions to make sure I understood the plan ). I never had that much time and responsiveness with any other surgeon. I had an Artas procedure with him; 3513 grafts all in one day — in at 7am out by 5pm. I felt safe and taken care of by him and his staff–incredible!. He was with me all day, which I now realize is rare ( most surgeons I visited don’t do their own surgeries; they have technicians operate the robots and are not with you during the procedure). I am 9 months after surgery and I am so happy with my results at this point. I understand that more implanted hair follicles will continue to grow and continue to improve my look. I am excited about my result . I recommend Dr Canales enthusiastically — he’s the man. As I visited so many clinics in the past, I chose him because I trusted him , he spent a lot of time with me and his unique expertise in robotic hair transplant as the inventor and medical expert of the robotic company. Never met someone with his credentials in this field. If you want a great result and feel confident about your surgeon, Dr Canales is the best choice in my opinion.

I had the ARTAS procedure done with Dr. Canales in mid-December. As a bit of background, I have been in the medical device industry for over thirty years, and am quite familiar with the effort involved to receive FDA clearance/approval for systems like the ARTAS. I chose the Silicon Valley Hair Institute because Dr. Canales was actively involved in the clinical trials leading up to FDA approval. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to go to a physician who is a true expert in the hardware that will be utilized. There are other locations in the San Francisco bay area, but no other physician was as actively involved in the development of this robotic system as Dr. Canales. When you combine this direct device experience with his professional background (take a look at his education and involvement in academic meetings) he is clearly the best choice.
