I met a young lady the other day wearing a “Shearz” T-shirt, so I wanted to be nosy and ask about the school, and its location. Well the young lady gave me the address, lol I SCREAMED at her, “OMG, THAT PLACE, HE ONLY CHANGED THE……… NAME AGAIN”. Well she “Politely”,and “Proudly” corrected me, Oh, Miss I’m so sorry but this is a totally different school, with different owners, I calmed down and said oh. We talked for a while and she invited me to the school to Have A Shearz Experience. Well I did WOW, THIS SCHOOL IS VERY CLEAN AND INVITING. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I was really excited to have a day of pampering before the school year started. I teach young children and I wanted a pedicure and cornrows before the school year started. I arrived around 1:30. They close at 5. Nobody was at the front counter. This wasn’t a big deal because they had a sign in sheet. Looked to be about 3 people in front of me. Well 45 minutes later someone comes to the front desk, calling names, and asking what service they needed. She gets me and I tell her I wanted cornrows. I was told kindly they couldn’t service me that day because many of the students hadn’t had a break and they had a lot of customers. I inquire if I could book an appointment for tomorrow. I was told no. Fine. My problem lies in that I waited 45 minutes to be told I couldn’t be served. Problem 2…. the prices are wrong. The website states a pedicure is $10. It’s actually $15. They were having a special so my foot washing, oops I mean pedicure was $7.50. By the way there are no returns and you pay in advance. So you’re pedicure includes a student with a foot tub, nail clippers, nail file, cuticle cutter, cotton balls, salt, a pumice stone and acetone. You can ask them to bring multiple colors because no nail polish is out for you to choose from. You are seated on a padded couch and must raise your legs to their lap to receive your foot washing oops I mean pedicure. I’m a pretty big girl. I’m 5’8 200 plus pounds. This is not what I would call a relaxing professional experience. I’m gonna pass on the hair. If I can’t trust you with my feet, I not gonna let you touch my hair. The nail polish she used I have at home and it comes from Walmart for about $2.50 a bottle. So disappointed. By the way, all that ashiness on my foot is how I left there.

Shearz is a great place for clients and students! You feel very welcomed as soon as you walk in and they have great customer service both on the phone and in-person. All of the instructors are very educated on what they’re doing/talking about which is helpful. The owner is also very hands on and motivating to everyone which is very impressive compared to other places! Highly recommend.

I was excited about this school. I paid my $50 registration. And requested information to start right away! tried… I really tried!! It went downhill fast. I couldn’t get a proper call back! Then they wanted me to interview bring my portfolio so I could possibly be accepted into the instructor program. It really rub me the way and $50 down the drain. I went to another institution where I felt accepted and appreciated to become an Master Cosmetology Instructor.

The price to attend the school is super affordable compared to the others in the area and I’m super excited to start this new journey with this school!
