My son has longer hair and he was really in need of a trim. I took him here where I was given a new stylist in training who repeatedly asked how much to trim off and knew nothing of mens long hair cuts. His trim was not shaped or layered or anything to blend the trim. He looks like he got a bob. They asked me to pay before the cut was completed (hence why I didn’t know he’d end up with a bob) and I was appalled when she told me it would be almost $30. Overpriced. Inexperienced. Not properly trained.

Absolutely life changing. My son went from kicking and screaming through home haircuts during covid to looking forward to trips to “the haircut store.” The entire drive home he’s looking in the mirror talking about how handsome he is bragging about getting to sit in a big truck and how nice everyone was to him.

The only reason I gave 4 stars is because it’s pretty pricey. However, I needed to take my boys somewhere that could work with their sensory issues. My boys have super curly hair but very sensitive heads so eventually the knots in the back were too bad for me to brush out. I was nervous that they would be upset having to cut their hair short but the ladies cutting their hair really helped them feel comfortable. They have fun chairs for the kids to sit in (geared towards toddler sized) and each station has a little TV and the kids get to pick what they want to watch (from a list). This will not be our go to place, especially since my kids are outgrowing the chairs (7 years old); but if we ever run into another problem that needs to be handled in a sensitive matter I will for sure go back. My kids not melting down is worth the money

Great experience. Took my son for his first haircut. He was throwing a fit, but they were so nice and patient. Helped make it special. Just wish the toys weren’t on the way in… they were a bit too distracting for a toddler.

Really disappointed in the ankeny location I’ve called all morning and no answer to try and get my grandson in to get his first hair cut there waited long to get help no one was at the desk but looks like the people were just to busy and didn’t wanna help us and just had excuses so we left but it was rude of the lady I will never come back there again ..

They do a great job of cutting hair on a moving target (my toddler). My son loves going to the “haircut store” and feeding the monster. Great selection of merchandise, too, that’s always changing.
