Shear Genius Salon offers a full service list of services that are top notch. I have been a patron of the salon for over a year. In my first visit, Linda, the owner, suggested lightening my hair a bit. Its exactly what I was thinking before I got there. She always asks, if I have been happy with my hair, color, cut etc… and listens. She is professional, and a true artist. I have also enjoyed the dry man/pedi from Kaitlyn. Another professional on the team. Shear Genius is always a step ahead. Facials, makeup, waxing. Linda’s reputation speaks for itself. She is well respected throughout NE NC and has customers that drive from VA and beyond for an appointment. Linda Porter using all of her super powers! Glad to be a recipient of her gifts.

I see my post has been removed so I just wanted to briefly say again I would not recommend this business at all. The owner was very rude and not professional at all. Went in for a simple trim and she said my hair was damaged and proceeded to take four to five inches off with me turned not facing the mirror. I know what damaged hair looks like and feels like being a previous hairdresser back in Virginia. Not quite halfway through the haircut I walked out with my hair unfinished. Had I let her finish I wouldn’t have half the hair I do now.

I have been to Linda several times for trim, removal of dead and damaged hair, color, facials and I love the fact I am pulled together and polished for our season here every time I leave. She assess what I may or may not need and I know for a fact she has been gracious when I was trying to just schedule in the summer. Love the way my hair feels (great products and more in the front of the store for your skin needs. I am there a lot in winter for that)and my cut is on point.Thank you !

I came to Shear Genius because of their more natural, less-chemical hair products line. I’ve kept coming back for several years now. Linda is an artist and it shows in her work. My hair is in great shape and looks good, too. She’s also a fountainhead of wellness knowledge. It’s fun to go in and trade thoughts and tips on wellness.

Linda did a great job in trimming my hair and got rid of a lot of my damaged hair. She is very knowledgeable about hair and scalp and provided good tips to better strengthen my hair. I am excited about trying out the new Aveda products she recommended. I would definetly come back to this place when I revisit OBX.
