Critical: QualityThe first photo is of when I was sitting in the lobby with some defined waves and curls and my bangs set the way I like them. The second photo is immediately when I get home 5 minutes after the haircut with my hair being a frizzy mess and my bangs dried completely wrong and my hair looks like a triangle. I went to get a haircut here and had high hopes since it was more than I I usually spend on a haircut (I usually spend $45, the haircut here was $60) The haircut itself was okay and I am happy with the layers that they did in my hair, but they did not listen to me at all when I talked about how I dried my bangs or styled my hair. I specifically told them how I blowdry my bangs so that they do not curl in and despite telling the stylist this she did them in the way I said not to and they look worse than when I came in. Also in regards to style I came in with defined curls and said that I usually air dry my hair and when she started styling with a diffuser I specifically said it usually makes my hair frizzy. Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, PunctualityTing did a wonderful job cutting my hair. Sabiya is a joy to see each time I visit. Both women are friendly, professional and excellently trained. The salon is clean, active about safety precautions and conscious of keeping everyone safe. I felt, and continue to feel, safe visiting the salon. The women at the front desk are kind and courteous when they’re taking temperatures and asking that the health questionnaire is addressed. Thank you, as always, for all that you do. I’ve been a client at Shapes Salon at Fairfax Station for about 2 years and they are fantastic. The front desk staff is pleasant, helpful and always willing to assist. The shampoo staff take their time and they massage as well as shampoo. My stylist is Ting and they just don’t come any better. She is an amazing stylist. She’s really an artist when it comes to cutting and coloring hair. She’s fabulous. The entire staff is always professional and the cost is reasonable. It doesn’t get any better than that!!

I have been getting my haircut by Millie for almost 20 years. She has been and continues to be a true perfectionist and always pleasant and attentive. This past visit was no exception, and I am very lucky to have Millie taking care of my hair. I also have been getting massages from Jenn over the past 6 years. There isn’t a nicer more caring massage therapist anywhere than Jenn. She always goes the extra mile to make sure I feel good. Some massage therapists give nothing more than a glorified back rub – not Jenn. She works hard to make sure that I ma getting a complete massage. I always appreciate her taking the time I need and not just holding to the exact time of my appointment. Mille and Jenn have made my experience at Shapes first class all the time.

I first started coming here about a year ago, after I had gotten two back to back bad haircuts. The first was terrible, so I went someplace different to correct it. They made it marginally better, but not by much. So, I took one final chance at Shapes, figuring I may come out of there bald, but I really hated how the back of my hair looked anyway. I especially appreciate Song, her attention to detail, discretion and talent for all spa services and I swear no one knows color and cut better than Heather. Every suggestion she’s ever made is right on target. She’s excellent at communicating options and understanding what I want and what can be accomplished with each visit or stage. All of it has resulted in many compliments! I can’t imagine life without these ladies!

I just visited for the first time, and am SO glad I did! I was hesitant to try a new salon, but to begin with, this place is BEAUTIFUL and really feels like you’re pampering yourself! It’s designed with a Tuscan feel, which I absolutely LOVED! When you walk in, they offer a selection of beverages and cookies, which also, um, LOVE!
