Critical: ProfessionalismI feel sad to leave this review. I made an appointment with Kathy and after reading several 5 star reviews was excited. I needed a wash, trim and flat iron, and was open to suggestions and advice. My issue is that during my entire appointment I heard endless comments from Kathy about how long and thick my hair was, how it was hard to deal with, how I had a lot of it, and that “if it was her hair she would cut it off”. At one point she and another stylist joked that Kathy must be tired from basically doing my hair. For reference I am mixed and my hair is natural. After moving from another state I was reluctant to find another salon because of this exact type of treatment! Still I am so shocked at my experience from what I though was a black/all inclusive salon. While Kathy wasn’t downright mean, this experience did shatter my confidence. Kathy made me feel insecure about my hair, was way to rough at some points, and the entire appointment I was contemplating on if I should just leave early with an unfinished head. I felt like an inconvenience and as if I need to apologize and thank her for “dealing with my hair”. Two stars because it did look good at the end and the trim was right, but it was not worth it to me and I would not come back. My only regret is that I did not speak up more at my appointment.UPDATEAfter reading the owners response I am temped to drop down my review even lower. My hair was in no way “matted” and I had detangled it extensively myself before the appointment. In my opinion Kathy tangled it herself while washing it aggressively. Way to blame the client. Nothing done to my hair was a miracle, and for the owner to insinuate such is offensive. “Hair talk” is an interesting way to rephrase “hair shaming” and “rude comments”. I feel sad to leave this review. I made an appointment with Kathy and after reading several 5 star reviews was excited. I needed a wash, trim and flat iron, and was open to suggestions and advice. Positive: Cleanliness, ProfessionalismI had another hair salon cancel the day of my appointment and Kathy fit me into her busy schedule. She hooked my head up! Thank you so much. I will be returning. My roller set and relaxer came out gorgeous .

Not only did she provide an amazing service but Kathy was very sweet and loving to my 6 year old daughter who was waiting for me to get done. I have finally found an amazing hairstylist! Kathy did such a great job with my hair. Not only did she provide an amazing service but Kathy was very sweet and loving to my 6 year old daughter who was waiting for me to get done.
