About a month ago I went to Sash Salon based on reviews. It was a long time coming and the fear more than anything of knowing that not just a little bit of my hair but ALL of it had to be cut, and not just cut but short, and in some areas shaved. I’m 37 and I had just finished chemo and overwhelmed, vulnerable, a little bit of sham, even some resentment is an understatement. My whole life I’ve had the kind of hair that people pay big money for, and here I was fixing to be without what I thought made me, well me. I was in for a surprise, turns out when you find the right people, that know what they are doing, and genuinely care, the difference is in the result. Not only did they not book appointments for about an hour behind me, they were aware of why I was coming and what I needed to do, so they didn’t want me to feel uncomfortable with an audience, but they didn’t charge me and they gave me hair growth products at no charge. I’m always the one that goes out of my way to make sure everybody’s okay, even a lot of times forgetting about me. But not this day Becca gave me a whole new me when it was said and done. It took me a little time to grow into how I felt about it, but a picture will say everything that words sometimes can’t. I just want to thank everybody there that day that took the time to remind me that in a world full of unnecessary cultivated hate, there’s still love and empathy and compassion when it’s needed the most.
