My mother and I took my two girls to this salon last Saturday, March 12th. We drove all the way from Canton to experience what we consider, a horrible experience. It was my 6 year old’s very FIRST hair salon visit. Prior to, we talked to Stephanie via phone about how we could prepare for the appointment and she wanted to make sure the girls hair was combed out before coming. As a stylist myself in braids, I would never send my children to a salon with matted hair. When we arrived, we were kindly greeted by a nice petite woman who would later style her young clients hair at the second booth. Stephanie NEVER came over to welcome us or greet us although we were there to patronize her services. Not that we needed HER to feel welcomed, however this is HER job that SHE signed up for and that’s just what you do in the profession of good customer service. The young client named “Phoebe,” to be exact was there with her grandmother who chatted with my Mother and I for the majority of the appointment which was very pleasant and ended up in us exchanging #’s. The stylist who styled the young lady’s hair even joined in the conversation and it was lovely. When they left, Stephanie was still doing my older daughters’ hair who is 12. Stephanie took her sweet time for whatever reason by engaging in inappropriate conversation for a preteen, stopping to go to a room with curtains I believe, where she would enter and exit with nothing in her hand. Normally at a salon, you’re going to the room to get more product or the like. She went more than once and literally took her sweet time doing so. She never once greeted my daughters who are children with a professional, inviting “hello, how are you? What’s your name? Etc” She truly acted as if she did not want to do their hair. Her attitude was rude, stand-offish and completely unprofessional. She would stop, and talk for a few minutes and take her time completing my girls hair. When I asked for an estimated time on how much longer, she rudely responded that she doesn’t like to give a time. I was also made aware that my 6 year old was swinging in a chair (I didn’t see this) and the shampoo lady flicked her off and directed her to sit by the hair dryers without saying a word. Why are we even in this business and willing to do children’s hair if we don’t know how to be kind, treat them like they deserve to be treated and talk to them with some respect? Wouldn’t we want the same respect? Yes! My mother was not happy and at first a little intimidated by Stephanie’s coldness. It takes nothing to exude a little warmth, especially if you are going to work with people. We will never come back to this salon. We could’ve stayed in Canton and gotten much better service than this. Never again!!!! Borrow some kindness or simply don’t choose a job in customer service! We have got to do BETTER black people!!!! Ps. The decor was on point to say the least!
