Went to Studio Indigo and Tia is an amazing stylist!! Her business feel very organic and the environment is so welcoming. She is also just an amazing person and really cares about wanting people to feel great in their hair. Came here per recommendation and I was not disappointed. Will totally come back again and recommend Tia to other people!

I was treated by Karen Becker at Salon Lofts in Gaithersburg. I used to get my hair lightened up and highlighted for 12 years, after which I decided to go back to my natural dark color. After 1.5 years with dark hair, I missed being blonde so I went to see Karen Becker to get it treated. I had a consultation during which pricing and process was discussed. Karen knew the details of the color I had in my hair and quoted the price at $235. At treatment, after I waited an hour, Karen started to talk about this appointment being a correction and said that corrections would typically cost $75/hour. Then, she took my bottom hair and said she wouldn’t color it as regular blondes are darker on the bottom anyways. She said if I wanted it done all the way, I would be paying her $500 and would be sitting there for hours. At that point, I was at discomfort and in treatment already, and although I was upset I wasn’t informed about this beforehand, I had no choice but hope it would come out ok. Karen colored all over the top hair to establish the basic color, remember she stated this was going to be a „correction“, and put afterwards highlights all over the hair. End result: 10 different kinds of tones with orange all over the place. When I complained to her, she kept insisting that she told me that corrections take more visits, but she wasn’t even following the correction process. When you do a „correction“, you would expect for an improvement to the prior, if not the final result. I had to learn what a correction process is all about when I got this mess fixed at a 6-hour one-time sitting AT A DIFFERENT SALON. I asked for partial refund, as I wanted to be fair and pay Karen for the products used and my daughter‘s hair cut, but was told that I actually owe her another $265 since she had heavily discounted my treatment (at $300). Karen even suggested to send me an invoice for that amount, after overpaying for my appointment already that was totally at dissatisfaction – very shocking and so unprofessional! I am the fairest customer you can have and even though I wasn’t pleased, I paid Karen a 15% tip. I sent Karen a thank you card along with the check for pay, hoping that after washing my hair several time and using the purple shampoo, it would correct on its own. I paid the full amount because I trusted that this was how my hair was supposed to look, and I liked Karen as a person, until I saw her real side, which was one more reason why I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. Back to the day of treatment, when my hair was finished, I said to Karen it was orange on the top and I had different color tones all over the place. My eyebrows got tinted too, they matched to my luck, BUT were orange with one dark spot left off!!! She said it was the lighting and even walked me to the ladies room to get a different view, which didn’t make a difference. I went home and just couldn’t cope with the look so texted Karen to go in for correction. I was scared to go back as I didn’t want the damage to get worse, so looked around to get second opinions, so I interviewed 4 other salons. Every single one asked me if I did it myself. I wish that was the case, but a horrible statement to make!

I saw Tia, from Studio Indigo. Tia is a magician! I have been struggling with my curls, and needed a cut to last a while – she asked questions and listened to my curl history and she did her magic! When I was looking to find someone that understands curls, I found her site and could tell that she is creative, and has a special touch inside that drives her – I’m so happy and will also enjoy the product she used on me which smell divine and are free of parabens and sulfates. Thank you Tia!

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, QualityHair stylist Tia Coles is amazing! She not only cares for my hair, but she has exceeded my expectations with every cut, color, and treatment that she has applied. I always receive so many compliments each time I leave her chair. And her studio is very relaxing and inviting too, which I really enjoy. She even provides a neck massage before each service, which is especially thoughtful and an added bonus to her service. I also noticed she seems to attract a diverse clientele, which is a testament to her skills and talents as a stylist. I have very curly, delicate hair and have had some bad hair experiences at other salons in the past, but Tia handles my hair like the pro she is! It’s absolutely worth booking an appointment today! I love this new space! They have multiple (like 15?) Different spaces all with different small businesses, from eyelashes to waxing and mostly hair salons. I go to Studio Indigo which is owned by Tia. I have been going to Tia for 3 years, first at Aveda and now in her own space in Salon Lofts. She is a great stylist! She takes direction well and always makes sure she understands what you want. More importantly she uses her expertise to translate your ideas into a beautiful style. I am always recieving compliments on my hair color and cut! The loft is clean and well decorated and each loft seems like its own mini salon!

Salon loft is a very neat placeEvery one has their own booth so you do not have to worry about privacy. You and your hairdresser will be the only one in. Mask is required. I must say quite expensive but worth it.

Adeola has been braiding my hair for three years, and recently moved here. She is the most patient and gentle hairstylist. Her specialty is in hair regrowth, but she really loves braiding, and it shows.
