I want to say first off I am a male and I am not at all picky about my hair. I have had three haircuts at this buisness. The first one was good. The second one was good. The Third one, oh boy, the third one was awful. I was booked with the stylist Erin for this service. She rushed the haircut and left me completely lopsided to the left side and cut my bangs two different lengths (this left a “hole” on the right side.) The haircut was suspicious looking when I left that day and then when the hair started to grow back after a week or so it was a MESS. I had to go to another hair dresser to fix it and now have shorter hair then I would like but at least this time it’s even. While Erin is certainly a pleasant person I won’t be trusting her to do my hair again.

Jane is perfect. She has seen me through many different haircuts and has the right combination of “let’s give it a try” and “maybe we should do it this way instead.” The whole staff is super friendly and I now drive down from Southington to get my hair cut. I won’t go anywhere else.

My go-to spot. The ladies here are very knowledgeable with haircuts and hair products. I’m never disappointed with my haircuts from here. Kind and friendly staff. Most of the time I’m able to go without an appointment. And they’re reasonable price.

Small salon in downtown New Haven. Only six stations but full service offering. Regular place for haircut at average prices. Never tried facial hair trim here. No male hairdressers as I am aware. Discounted prices with student ID. Paid parking along the street. There is also parking in a parking garage just before the Salon J, on the left hand side of the one-way road. They recently adjusted their payment system where you can now only tip your hairdresser in cash.

I have been having my hair done by Salon J for years now. Even though I live in Guilford, I don’t mind coming to New Haven. Parking is easy either on the street or in the parking garage right next door. The atmosphere of the salon is always buzzy with plenty of different people coming and going. I always walk out feeling happy and certainly looking loads better. Love the whole staff there and especially Jennifer Sabino the owner who is the greatest and a very talented stylist. Looking for a hair dresser? You must go to Salon J.
