Salon 241 is a welcoming, queer and women-owned salon, located in the heart of downtown Northampton MA. Overall, the space is warm, relaxing, and inviting with a little dash of hip and stylish. The creative and talented stylist-owners Katie and Andrea opened the salon in 2008 and it has thrived ever since. Our stylists understand the importance of keeping up with today’s trends and constantly evolving as artists to better meet your needs. You can see that we sincerely care about the people who come through the doors, and the work that goes along with it. From the owners and stylists, to the receptionists at the front desk, we are excited to accommodate everyone from kids to business professionals, and everyone in between.

11/29: I have never before felt the need to leave a 1-star review, but my haircut and coloring today was truly terrible. I came in with natural, medium length light-brown hair and asked for a bob longer than chin-level and a warm, red auburn color. After three hours of repeated washes and trims, I left with hair just under my earlobes, and dark red, almost purple hair that looks nothing like the pictures I showed the stylist. I’m devastated and can only pray my hair grows back quickly and the color starts washing out.

Went there on Saturday to have my hair dyed and yes I’m a guy, they did a outstanding job, Alicia that did my hair was phenomenal and staff were awesome, a little pricey for a salon visit but very well worth it and great atmosphere.

This salon is amazing. There’s good reasons for hundreds of five star reviews! Sadly I moved away fairly shortly after my excellent cut & color here from Kate, a very talented stylist, but if you wish for A++ hair and a classy experience, this is your place. I was a concierge at high end hotels, tend to have a high bar in service expectations because of it, and was blown away by being greeted by the owner, how clean everything was, and receiving quite literally perfect hair.

Never again! Worst color experience ever here yesterday (April 15, 2022). What I got and what I asked for could not be further apart. I have both white streaks and orange in my hair after a failed balayage and grays showing through after a failed “root smudge” attempt . I left in shock, spent almost $300 here, take a full vacation day because there weren’t weekend appointments available for months and could not have been more unsatisfied. They were unapologetic and don’t appear to care that they ruined my hair. I had to spend more money to fix it on my own. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
