Critical: Cleanliness, Professionalism, QualityI have been going on and off to this place for the value. Prices are decent but let me tell you that prices are not standard for everyone. I know because I know other people that go there and we all get a different price for the same services in color and hair cuts. I believe men’s is a standard price. I was going for hair dye but stopped going because the quality of their hair dye are poor. They fade after 4 washes. They are okay with standard hair trims but complex hair cuts, this is not your place. Oh an remember to bring cash because there is no credit card or ATM. forget about Zelle, Venmo and all the other wonderful options we now have available to us. Or just walk around with $100s in you wallet on Normandie and Gage. By the way there is no parking other than the busy street parking. In talking about the place, it’s cramped, dusty and left over random things are sold in the front. A renovation would be in order but this is just a recommendation and I would hope it does not affect their work. Going back to their work, the last straw for me was highlights. I previously had gone to get my hair lightened to a caramel/reddish brown from a supper jet black after a screw up at another salon. The owner did a good job in bleaching the hair and dying to the a similar color. Upon my return to add highlights I was serviced by the owner’s sister who screwed up my hair. It’s unclear why she did highlights and a dark ash brown in between the highlights at the same time! I just wanted highlights to go with the color the owner used. I brought sample pictures! Trusting that she is the professional I let it go and when it was time to style the hair there were highlights that started about 3 inches down the hairline! and I was an ash brown with yellow highlights. I figured I could learn to like the brown with highlights but now way would I accept the highlights that started 3 inches down. To fix it, she applied more bleach to the dark area and I ended up with a thick blond strip of hair in the front side of my head! To worsen it, it was orange at the root! When I asked how she intended to fix it, she said that there was nothing wrong. I just stood up, wet hair and uncombed, paid her and walked out. This job cost me $120. She offered to not pay her but that’s not the point. She messed up someone’s hair and wouldn’t even fix it! I was not about to let her say that I complained just to not pay her. This was 2 weeks ago. I debated on what to do. Go back and ask the owner to fix it? I figured it serves me right for going to a place where the staff does not care about their hair. Both have puffy hair like squirrel tails due to over processed and over bleaching. The blonde hairs are green! I say this as constructive criticism not a critique to make them feel bad. It’s like going to the office in your PJs. Anyway, serves me right and I feel it’s best to let others know of the multiple experiences I’ve had here. If the place looks run down and the staff themselves have poor hair, why would you expect to walk out with better hair? That’s what I learned. Oh and did I mention I walked in at 10 am and walked out of there at 7pm!Services: Haircut, HairstylingI have been going on and off to this place for the value. Took my daughter to get a haircut and the lady was very nice. I explained how short my daughter wanted her hair. After she cut it, it looked a bit flat so I asked if she could add layers to which she said ok. After adding several layers my daughter’s hair looked great and my daughter loved it. ♀️ My daughter has received several compliments on her haircut and people have asked where she got it cut. The wait was a bit long, but is to be expected for a Saturday morning. My daughter and I were very happy with the service. I would definitely recommend this place and I’m planning to go and get a haircut myself.

It was a bit awkward at first we had a nice little chat after a bit. But the lady cutting my hair was totally in a rush and just made an in even cut. She asked on a length and I try to see what I wanted by looking in the mirror she just cut a straight and blunt cut without any detail. She gave me a huge thick bang when I just wanted to frame my face. I feel bad for leaving this review but it the truth I don’t want it to happen to others.

I’ve been coming to see Mrs. Rubio for years; she’s the only person that touches my hair. Her prices are reasonable and she does excellent work; I have never been disappointed. Be prepared to wait if there is a line. Fridays and weekends are the busiest.

Great staff very friendly and kind, only cash acceptance, the main person to get a good haircut from whether man or woman or kids would be from the owner Josefina.
