My husband and I decided last minute to have a deep tissue couples massage on Halloween. I have had over 100 deep tissue massages in the past and so I can tell you pros and cons. This was not bad. It was different for sure. The massage table was one of the best that I have been on. There was a language barrier that would of not worked in his favor for this review if his partner didnt translate some of my requests. It was my 1st massage where I was told to keep my bottoms on and bra on (I didnt)…My husband kept his jeans on (totally weird).

Critical: ProfessionalismThe lady who gave me a massage had a phone in her one hand through out. She gave me a one hand massage and that too only for 40 minutes when I paid for a one hour massage. Massage therapist always look sleepy when I arrive.. Probably because they are lying down in the employee break room.. Main therapist is looking old and tired. The other one overweight and not very good either. Neither are very good at the extracurricular activity.

Royal Day Spa is Amazing. The staff is friendly and polite. They listened to my needs and concerns. My therapist was thorough and really took the time to explain what’s going on. The treatment was perfect! When you buy a 60 minute session, you get the whole 60 minutes, not like some of the other competitors that shorten the time to 50-55min for dress down purposes. Great place!

I had previously left 5 stars because I always received great massages here. However today was horrible. I received a rushed massage from a lady who claimed she knew what she was doing. She rushed through the whole thing, abruptly left the room twice to answer the phone and never excused herself. Fast forward, I finish getting dressed and open the door to her standing there demanding I tip her before I can make my way out the room. I expressed I did not feel comfortable tipping her due to poor service. ( I had already paid for my swedish massage upon entering the place).I handed her 5 dollars which made her extremely upset. I then left. I don’t know what has happened. I believe management has changed. But I know that I wont be back. I do not reccomend anyone here. Please visit alternative place.

I decided to give my wife and mother a gift for mothers day and bought them a gift card from this place. It was 1 full body massage each (deep tissue) for each of them ($140). I came in to Royal day Spa a few days earlier and paid for the gift card, and told the front desk lady that It was meant as a surprise for my wife and mom. I expressly told them it was a gift for them for mothers day.

A colleague of mine recommend this establishment, the one star is for customer service. Upon arrival after making an appointment I was asked to pay first – upfront. Having gone to many (too many to count) upscale spas and salons around the world I have never in my 60 years been asked to pay upfront. As a professional educated woman of color I was offended. I returned to work and asked my Caucasian colleague what the process was for payment she replied “you go in, get your massage, pay when finished”. My initial thought was that I was asked to pay first because I am a woman of color – and it appears that I was right. I’m not the one to automatically assume any racial discrimination because I identify with many different races and my appearance reflects my mixed heritage. The massage (after the therapist named Wendy seemed to adjust to touching light beige skin, it took a while) was not the best I’ve ever had but was good – no complaints there. I paid upfront as requested, then when I was leaving she stopped me with the receipt in her hand and asked for a tip, when I hesitated she confronted me in a hostile tone “we work for tip”, I took the high road and tipped her a few dollars out of fear she would become more aggressive. My apology for the long post but it is wise to treat every customer with respect – the way you would want to be treated. People of color be prepared to be humiliated and asked to pay first upfront. I guess my David Yurman diamond cable bracelet, $3k leather bag, 5 carat diamond ring and professional attire wasn’t enough to show I wouldn’t get the massage and run out the door. I will not return. If you are looking for a great and relaxing massage, this is the place. I felt great after my first visit last week. I got a full hour, unlike other places that only gave me 45-50 minutes of actual massage. They also give me some free upgrades. I was treated like a king. Now I know where the Royal name comes from…. I will deffinately be back. Highly recommended.

Mikki, Jenny, and Yoyo are certified, trained, and professional and you will be very happy that you went to the Royal Day Spa in McKinney. I have been to other spas for massage in McKinney, Allen, Plano, Frisco and this is the absolute best in the area. Amazing!!!
