Today was my first visit at RockAfro. The receptionist was very nice and professional. Briana saw me right away. No waiting; I have never been to a salon where you don’t wait for 30 minutes or more. She is a very skilled stylist; she made me feel welcome and is a very nice person.

I’ve been at this location many times over years but in the recent year of their services it has been the worst experience any loyal customer should go through. The 2nd most recent time being there, I had an appointment for two stand twists and wasn’t informed that there was no one available to do them until I arrived. They told me they’ll call around to their employees to see whether they’ll find someone who can do them and call me In about an hour. I never got a call back . I made another appointment to get two strand twists and the person I was on the phone with clarified to me that there will be no extra costs which is a problem I normally have dealt with them for— just $85 (already $20 than what they used to charge me). then when I got there in the middle of the shampoo the lady charged me an extra $15 to detangle my hair which was never consulted to me beforehand. There’s no respect toward me as a customer who has had a bad experience with them beforehand they just act as if it’s okay. I would love to see women be better on their word of business I shouldn’t have to run in circles every time I need a set accurate price and consistency in service. I’m not seeing it at Rockafro anymore

Lovely salon. Very quick. I initially had an appointment and my stylist was unavailable. Yaya was still able to accommodate us and braided in a timely fashion. She was also kind and patient to my request. The salon is clean, they’re reasonably priced, they are following covid protocols and all of the stylist are professional and nice. I have already scheduled a follow up service. I’m proud to support this Black owned business! Thank you RockAFro.

I was hoping that my hair be nice. The parts are nice, the service was okay, but these are not knotless plaits. They need more training for the money that you pay. However, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was very good. I’ll pay but you need to do more than a good part.. . So I’ll keep looking for the best. Back to my old stylist, if she’s not booked up.

This was my first time visiting the Rockafro Natural Hair Salon and it was great! I loved the atmosphere and how friendly everyone was. My stylist, Ashunti was great too! She continuously checked with me to make sure my braids weren’t too tight which I really appreciated very much. The only thing I could think of that could be improved on is that if the stylist does anything extra that will increase the fee, the stylist should make sure to mention how much extra it will cost before proceeding. I washed my hair right before heading to the salon because the website said pretty much to come with your hair washed or add it to your appointment for an extra fee (not verbatim, just summing it up). So I decided to wash my own hair. Since it was still damp, my stylist asked if it was okay to blow dry my hair so I approved. Later when it was time to pay for the service, I saw that the blow drying came up as a $10 charge. It’s only $10 so it wasn’t a big deal to me but it would have been nice to know that I would be charged for that beforehand. Aside from that, I really liked it! I will definitely be going back and recommending it to my friends and family!

I am posting this for my father in law. He went there for a wash and to have his locs tightened. He had it done one day and the next day he cut them out. Now this was a little extreme on his part imo because he’s been growing them over 20 years.. but he said that they were too tight and that’s the only way he was able to get any relief. He should have just gone back and told them because I am sure they could have done something without him going to that extreme, but his feedback is that they twist too tight. Not sure why he didn’t say something as they were doing them as well so that’s why I gave a 3. I have heard pretty good things about the shop, that’s why I referred him there.
