super great experience! i love to get my hair done; it is so relaxing. Angelique did a great job. she washed, cut, blow dried, and straightened my hair. she styled it in a new way for me that i liked. i usually just go for a blunt cut but she gave me some layers and some face framing to spice up my style hehe. she also cleaned up my eyebrows which is super nice. overall it was a fun time:)

I went a few weeks ago as a walk-in. When I got there, my hair stylist said she wasn’t supposed to be working that day, and acted irritated she had to be there. She also looked like she had just rolled out of bed. However, we all have bad days, and I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I only came in for a trim and she asked if she could add some small layers, to which I said yes, because she told me that most of the damage in my hair was not on my ends because I wear my hair up a lot?? I didn’t even know this was a thing but trusted her. When she started cutting my hair, I told her she didn’t have it parted on the right side and she said “it doesn’t matter what side it’s parted on because I’m that good of a hair dresser”. I wish I would have left right then. She didn’t seem to be measuring the make sure everything was even and I was nervous when I saw how much hair she was cutting. She then washed my hair and “styled it” by putting so much leave-in conditioner that when she was done, I thought it was still wet. I had to go home and re-wash my hair because it was disgustingly greasy from the product. It was after this that when I straightened my hair, I saw how uneven the layers were. I was HORRIFIED. Nothing was even, the layers were so choppy and the back of my hair was longer than the front. I had to spend another $45 to get my hair fixed. The hair dressers name is Angelique. I’m sure my experience is not representative of all of the barbers there, but I would never go back to her again. I have pictures to show, but it won’t let me post them.

Had a poor experience here when one of the barbers gave me a straight razor shave on my neck and cut me and didn’t even mention it to me. I guess it could have truly been unnoticed by her but either way – not a pleasant experience. The people were as friendly as you would reasonably expect – didn’t blow me away but certainly didn’t do anything unkind.

Well!!! I just wrote a review the other day about Tracy!! My fiancé and my oldest son went tonight and got a cut!! I think Tracy will agree with me that when my son walked in and when he left. He was 2 different people! He has wanted to keep his hair long for so long and when he got home I couldn’t believe my eyes. I kept asking my fiancé where he was and he said right here and I said no way!!!! They both look very handsome. Two more customers gained! Thank you again Tracy!!

Decided today on a whim to get a haircut. Called up Rock of ages for the first time. Jason Woods (my later barber) answered and told me to come on over. I was there and in the chair in less than 5 mins. Jason knows his stuff btw. I’ve jumped all over roanoke barbershops and salons looking for the fade I got today. If you’re looking for a down to earth barber with professional training look no further. Hands down best cut and fade I’ve ever seen. I’ll be back soon.

Ask for Tee! She’s the only one allowed to touch my hair. She’s amazing, both technically skilled, and inventive enough to be able to alter cuts to fit your face shape and style perfectly! I’ll never go to another hairdresser again

Asked for my hair to be cut to one, even length and received angled, layered hair that if i wanted to even out would be 2-3 inches shorter than where I asked for. Just to give you an idea, I wanted it to be chin length but if I wanted to fix the unevenness it would be at my cheek. Not to mention I’ve been trying to grow out my hair. This is the second time something like this has happened here. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but this will have been the last time I go here.

My girlfriend and I stopped in Tuesday morning to get our hair cut. I believe the owner was the one who did the job. We both were extremely happy with the end results and had a great friendly visit to Rock of Ages. We did experience a couple of strange, slightly unprofessional moments during our visit. As my girlfriend attempted to detangle a knot from her hair, another customer (with a reservation) came in. And the stylist took that customer and began cutting his hair and didn’t return to my girlfriend until he finished this new guy’s haircut. Almost as if he was working on two clients at once? Never seen that before. He also stepped out for about five minutes mid-haircut to have a conversation with someone in the neighboring parking lot. Seemed like a friend who just said “I need to talk to you.” Leaving us completely alone in the barbershop.
