Initially I was thinking I was going to have to travel to Lancaster or Zanesville. At the recommendation of another therapist, I reached out to Rita, and much to my suprise she was certified in lymphatic drainage massage and lives just a few miles from me. She was able to fit me in quickly and last Saturday I went for my first massage. She is so caring and personable but maintains a professional attitude and immediately puts you at ease. The setting is gorgeous, the table is heated and she plays some very relaxing music softly in the background. If you are looking for a massage therapist do yourself and your body a favor and reach out to Rita, you can thank me later. Rita’s hands are a gift. Following a cosmetic procedure, I needed lymphatic drainage massage. I called all over Athens and no one is certified. Initially I was thinking I was going to have to travel to Lancaster or Zanesville. It was very difficult to sit for any length of time and walking was very painful. I found Rita Chapman after doing a Goggle search for medical therapists and thank God she was able to help me. I’ve had 3 massage sessions with Rita and each session has significantly reduced my pain and improved my mobility. I feel I’m on the road to a complete recovery. I was having a lot of pain with sciatica in my right upper leg/buttock area in addition to a severe muscle spasm in my lower left back that came on overnight. My adventurous, active lifestyle of hockey, ice skating, tennis, pickleball, and bungee jumping all make my monthly massages with Rita a necessity to keep going. She addresses issues quickly and knows when I need to see my chiropractor. She listens to my body. Rita also provides great suggestions on stretches and tips on healthy eating to reduce inflammation. Rita has done massage for me for possibly 15 years. She knows what she is feeling and detecting and how to resolve the problems. She, also, has skills and training that are not always found with a massage therapist, such as lymphatic drainage. When she moves away from this area I will miss her greatly!!
