We are a husband and wife team, Brian and Melissa Makris. In July, 2015 we opened Relax Blacksburg to prove that the traditional massage business model simply does not work well for most massage therapists. We, quite simply, put people before profits. We hire talented therapists and classify them as employees. We pay them very well, provide health care, paid time off, continuing education, a matching 401(k) retirement plan and a strong focus on work/life balance. These values are very important to us. Well done! This business is very professional, staff is friendly & highly trained with amazing hands & talent. The place is very clean & safe. I suffer from fybromaylgia & need deep pressure to help with pain management. I highly recommend to anyone needing relief from muscle aches & pains. You can communicate how much pressure is needed at times during massage as well. I think it is a very personal matter and treatment per customer which makes it the Best!

I lived in Blacksburg for 4 years and this place is the only reason I want to go back. Brian is incredible. I’ve gotten massages since I moved to a new city and I miss Brian SO MUCH. nothing compares to him!!! It takes a little while to get on his books, but I recommend the wait. Also, all the other therapists are great, too, especially since he takes the time to work with them and gives them opportunities to learn new techniques (professional growth is a part of their benefits). I recommend all the therapists here because I got massages with many of them (and a couples massage) before I saw Brian. Also, the ambience is very nice! The massage beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever been on (and I’ve been getting massages for over a decade, and my brother is a therapist). The beautiful rugs are amazing and purchases locally! The business supports their local economy, donates to charity every year, and is just an all-around excellent business. If you’re not getting massaged here, what are you waiting for??? Book your next appointment!!!!
