Critical: QualityAbout a month ago, I visited to start the balayage process on my hair as I had a goal I wanted to work towards that I knew would take a few sessions. I first had my haircut by Mindy who did a great job and then helped me setup the balayage appt with Shawna. A few days later I met with Shawna who I showed a picture of my end goal to and she said it would be an attainable goal. She started the balayage process and her process was much different than what I have previously experienced. I’m not a stylist in the slightest so I figured she just had a different process that would hopefully end in the same results I’ve had prior. Shawna brushed globs of developer onto chunks of hair at a time. When I say globs, I mean literal globs, where some was even ending up on surroundings and the floor. The whole appt felt very rushed and by the end she blow-dried my hair and showed me out telling me next time I need to schedule more time (even though it was another stylist who setup my appt and the amount of time). Fast forward a day, after washing it I could tell something was off. The color was drab and the way the color sat on my hair was in very noticeable chunks with missed spots and striped areas all throughout. I called to see if this was typical for a first time balayage appt that was working toward an end goal and I was told it was not. The receptionist was super kind in helping me try to schedule to come in and get it fixed on the week before Thanksgiving. Shawna offered to come in on her day off to fix it saying it would be a ‘simple fix’ but, I instead decided to go with the only other open appt with a new stylist at Plymouth, Caitlin. My meeting with Caitlin was amazing, I felt like she truly listened to my concerns and she brought an experienced stylist into the conversation. I learned the process that Shawna took is a type of way to do balayage called ‘open air’ but, typically takes much longer then the 120 mins we were scheduled. Caitlin worked very hard with care and her time (3 hours!) to fix my concerns and was so easy to talk to. I really appreciate her work and was very happy with how my finished product turned out.
