I normally have a hair stylist that I go to for several years now, but for personal reasons, my normal hair stylist was unable to do my normal 3-4 month dye session in August so I decided to give Rebel Roots a try. Mckenzie was my hair stylist and all I asked for was permanent inky black with undertones of violet to make it shiny which is my go to with my normal stylist. I already have naturally dark hair and had been working my way back from a purple-red to black with already a session of permanent black done with my main hairstylist 3 months prior. At the time, my hair was a dark brown, almost close to my natural hair color, which is a very dark brown.

Hadley was my hairstylist and she did a fantastic job! If you’re looking for someone who is professional, funny, and super talented I could not recommend her more. I have never been more pleased going to a salon. She gave me exactly what I asked for. Her rates were phenomenal and she got me in crazy fast. I just got my hair done yesterday and have already had so many compliments! I will certainly be coming back in the future.

Ysabelle is a miracle worker!!!! On a Friday, I went to a girl in Potlach to get a balayage and layers added into my long hair and she completely butchered my haircut and the so called “balayage” was a poorly done highlight job. To say I was distressed would be an understatement!

Kenzie has made my hair dreams come true!! The first time I had her do my hair, I had hair that had years of black hair dye and wanted to go blonde and knew that it would probably take a few appointments for that to happen. When she was done, I was shocked and so happy! It was the blondest it has ever been and it felt softer than before. Every time I leave her chair happy and in love with my hair. I was leery to first schedule an appointment at Rebel Roots because my sister had recently scheduled her first hair appointment there and her stylist cancelled 2 hours before saying she got a flat tire and couldn’t come to work. I still made an appointment and about 2 hours before my appointment the same stylist messaged me and cancelled saying she had a sick kid – although she did reschedule me. Then for the reschedule appointment she had to move it later than originally she told me that day because she said she forgot about it. Well when I finally went to my appointment she did the best job on my hair anyone has ever done and the salon is just so dang cute/clean so I made a second appointment for 6 weeks later – which she also ended up cancelling only a few hours before and trying to reschedule for a different day but I decided not to return. Overall my hair looked fantastic but if you have a tight schedule don’t be suprised if you book an appointment weeks in advance only to be cancelled on last minute.

I went in and got my hair colored by Mackenzie, the owner. I told her I wanted to dye my hair black and she asked me if I wanted permanent or temporary hair color. I clearly stated that I wanted permanent and assuming I was getting it done professionally, it would be just that. After I left the salon I started noticing multiple missed spots where my hair was clearly still brown and not black. I ignored it because it didn’t seem that big of a deal. But after washing my hair about 20 times three days after the appointment i started realizing that the hair color was continuing to come out and not at all staying black. Two weeks went by after the appointment and my hair went back to brown and wasn’t black in the slightest. Super annoying and disappointing because it should not have been washing out vibrant color after literally 20 washes of trying to get the water to run clear. Normally the color should stay 6-8 weeks and I’m no professional but it should not have been washing out after the amount of times I washed my hair.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI also believe these 5 star reviews are fake. They were all done seven months ago. I should have went to Super cuts for this haircut. I asked for lots of layers and some bangs cause I didn’t like the way my front looked. (I said lots of layers). As it was, McKenzie cancelled my appointment 1 hour before and rescheduled for the next day. (Yes she did text that her child was being sent home from school) When I arrived she never apologized, never introduced herself, (didn’t even say “hi” just follow me….with total boredom and annoyance on her face. I was kinda in disbelief as you could tell she didn’t want to be there. She cut my hair only from the back, no cuts from sides or front?? Never in my life have I had that? How does she know it’s even? She barely made layers at all and didn’t try and style it at all but charged me $40. Never again. From reviews I expected top notch. When I realized she wasn’t cutting the front of my hair or styling it, I just wantedto leave and find a new place for an actual style. It’s impossible to actually reach someone if you need a cancellation, and I heard some none-too kind comments about native Americans being freely spoken when I was getting my hair done. Not professional at all. My stylist was hard to reach to even think of rescheduling to top it all off.. shouldnt have to run someone down to get a simple cut. I suppose everything speaks for itself regarding the business. Will be going elsewhere from now on.
