After researching salons and thumbing through countless photos of finished hair styles and colors, I chose a specific stylist at Ravin Hair. The day of my appointment, she phoned and advised me that she was super busy and I could either wait for her (she would be 20 minutes to an hour late) or I could use another stylist. I agreed after being assured that her co-worker was amazing. When I arrived, a very friendly, young stylist met me. She explained she must come in for the day even when she doesn’t have a client and she had no one scheduled. I told her I wanted to lighten my hair for the summer. I asked for warm, chunky highlights and a blunt, slightly asymmetrical cut that would lie past the shoulders once dry. Several times during the experience she said, “People love short hair, you’ll never want to go back” and I’d remind her that I did not want short hair. Now, I love learning about people and have always enjoyed the discussions I’ve had with salon professionals. But this girl would stop working on my hair all together and spend 5 to 7 minutes, leaning against her station, chattering away about herself and how she thought the COVID vaccine was dumb etc., causing me to lose several hours unnecessarily and making me wonder why she felt the need to tell me—someone she just met—her opinion on something very controversial at the time. When the ordeal was finally over, I had to fight back the tears. She’d cut off 7-inches and it looked like she took a weed whacker to my hair. The highlights appeared more gray (I didn’t have gray hair when I went in btw) than blonde. I expressed my concerns. The stylist I originally booked snapped at me from her own workstation, “No it does not!” making me feel uncomfortable. I knew any further complaint I had would be met with animosity and I wasn’t up for the battle. $240 later, I left with a hairstyle and color that looked like it was done by a fourth grader. I waited a year before posting this review. I’m very careful about negatively commenting on small businesses, fearing the impact my review might have. But now that I’m finally ready to brave another salon, I find I’m still angry about my last experience. Hopefully, management can better train their staff better based on my review.

This was my first time booking an appointment here and I just want to say that their staff is extremely pleasant. I was greeted by my stylist (Tabby/Tabbatha) kindly and she was so nice and informative when I asked what product would work best for my hair type. She made sure I was happy with my haircut and was great overall. I’m very confident that this is going to be my new staple salon!

Was not told a haircut did not include a blow dry. I have very thick and long hair to begin with and was cutting a few inches off and to really finish a cut on my hair type it needs to be dried and finished and thinned so the ends are not super blunt. When I asked about it as she said I was done with my wet hair she said she didn’t have time to dry it. I don’t mind paying for services. That’s not the issue. The issue is giving me half a haircut and saying have a good day. Unhappy with the cut. Won’t be returning.

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueCassie did my hair today. This was my first time there and all of the staff was great but Cassie was fantastic. She took her time to really understand what I was wanting which with me and my hair was no easy task. After rolling my hair for 2 hours she still had a smile on her face. 8/6/16 I found Ravin salon on line and after some nice reviews, I decided to book an appointment. I was a bit uneasy, because I was in town for the weekend for a wedding anniversary, and not familiar with the area. However, for starters the young woman at the counter was welcoming, polite and just very nice! I went in for a shampoo, blow dry/flat iron (my hair is past my shoulders) and Katie was the stylist who did my hair. She did a wonderful job and had a lovely personality! She was very easy going and nice to chat with. I felt comfortable with Katie 🙂 She didn’t burn my scalp, had gentle hands and gave me a nice scalp massage while washing my hair. That area by the way, is closed off for privacy and they purposely made it low lighting for a relaxing “spa” like ambiance while your hair is washed. My overall experience was great. The price was also very reasonable and the place was neat, clean and very well represented by the staff. I definitely recommend Ravin in St. Cloud. Kudos to them and Katie for great service!

I use to drive 10 minutes for my appointment now I drive 45 minutes and would not change it for anything. These gals are like family . Critical: Professionalismmaddison, she was super sweet and probably just needs more experience. she did a color correction on my hair and missed a piece and she said “oh we missed a piece, you’ll live” so unprofessional and made me extremely anxious to even continue the process. after a few minutes i had her wash out my hair so i could leave.when she was shampooing my hair the underneath of my hair was still untouched and dry. i’ve done my own hair for over a year now, and i’m not stopping now. i will not be going back. i will be doing my own hair. the girl who did my hair continuously asked someone else what to do next with my hair. it just felt like she was practicing on my hair. didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing. incredibly unsatisfied. update:went back for my refund and experienced even MORE unprofessional behavior. i was told i “probably use box hair dye” and “i don’t care what school you went to or whatever but u don’t know what ur doing with ur hair” i’m currently in cosmetology school & one of the first things i ever knew about hair was not to use box dye. it was just extremely dramatic and uncomfortable. i literally felt like i was a child being lectured by a mother. i’m an adult, talk to me as such, i know what i’m doing with my hair, yall didnt. absolutely ridiculous. Mrs. Jessica was my consultant today. She did an amazing job with my hair, I have no complaints. She was very polite and even asked if I wanted anything when she went to the store next door while my color was setting. Prices are great as well. I’m used to paying 250+ for my hair. My bill minus tip was 110.
