Sunday Sept. 18, 2022 I took my 9yr. old granddaughter to Rakida’s hair Salon to have her hair braided. Before I took her I made the appointment with Rakida and I had quite a few questions. She informed me they could wash her hair there to. Once we arrived Rakida let us In without greeting us or introducing herself. After all this our first time there. Everything went downhill from there. When she washed her hair she should have washed it in a downward motion instead of a circular motion. My granddaughter has 4c hair which is thick and tight. Then she went to dry it with the comb dryer, and she was raking thru her hair so rough the comb kept falling off. She even dropped the hairdryer on the floor, all while my granddaughter was silently crying while I was holding her hand. Then she sent her to another stylist to finish raking thru her hair, while talking to her about my granddaughters hair in her native African language. Rakida goes to tell me we don’t wash her kind of hair because it is hard to do, as if something is wrong with her hair texture. Before someone makes an appointment she should inquire about the persons hair texture if they want it washed to. I understand it takes time to do her hair, so if you can’t accommodate this let people know up front. I decided to just leave without anyone doing anything else to her hair. This was the worst salon hair experience for my granddaughter and myself. The only descent thing I can say is that her other stylist were cordial.

I have a mix baby and she wanted to get her hair done but I didn’t know how many bundles I had to purchase and what to do… they were very kind enough to help and I can’t recall who did my daughters hair but she was really good. This was one of the best braiding shops I’ve ever been to! I was able to call the shop and be seen the same day. Ms. Aicha was very professional and personable. She used the pictures of the style I wanted and give me just that, while making sure everything was correct along the way. In addition, the shop was very clean and welcoming. I just want too say these ladies did an amazing job with my super thick hair !!! I love my Marley Twist… They made sure my edges didn’t get pulled while braiding I’ve never had anyone put someone hand on ur head too keep from pulling this is the first time I gotten my hair done and it did not hurt it was on a scale 1 to 10 soreness 1 1/2 in few areas usually it hurts for a week or so not this time 2 days !! Or a little bit of soreness the price was great !! The ladies was nice, and was trying to make sure I was comfortable they made me a loyal customer whenever I get my hair braided these lady’s are the only ones I’m coming too thank you!!!

I just got my hair done by Justine, and I absolutely love it! I had been looking at shops all day to figure out where I could go, and I decided to come there since it was on my way home. I didn’t have an appointment but I came in, told them what I wanted, and they took care of me! I didn’t mind how long it took because she made she that it was neat and presentable and didn’t rush me out the door at all. The price was affordable and not expensive like some braiding shops I’ve been too. I will definitely be recommending Rakida Hair Braiding, and I will be a returning customer!
