Critical: ProfessionalismI’ve been coming here for 4 years and today Christmas Eve was the first time I had a horrible experience. I was told to sit by the door while they were pulling ppl after me to get washed so I said something. Then they decided to give out tickets to keep order. Just to turn around and start working on the same particular clients hair before mine. Smh. I know if Rosie was there this would not have been going on. All in all they have lost an official customer. I hope myself and another customer was specifically being “forgotten “ because of our nationality due to the fact the one lady they all kept rushing to get going that came in way after us happen to be Spanish. I’ve been coming here for 4 years and today Christmas Eve was the first time I had a horrible experience. I was told to sit by the door while they were pulling ppl after me to get washed so I said something. Then they decided to give out tickets to keep order. Just to turn around and start working on the same particular clients hair before mine. Smh. I know if Rosie was there this would not have been going on. All in all they have lost an official customer. The experience there was not good at all. Over the phone I asked them if they could do 4c type hair and they said yes. I asked for it to be straightened and trimmed. I get there and once they see my hair they start saying things in Spanish about my hair like I couldn’t understand facial expressions. They literally burned my hair to the point where I everytime I wash my hair will still be straight and my curl pattern is messed up and now my hair is falling out. My hair will never return back to normal because off them. They should be ashamed of theirselves. In conclusion I dont recommend ANYONE with natural hair to go there. And they charged me 70 dollars OUTRAGEOUS!

Critical: Professionalism, PunctualityI never write reviews but I had to because this place is absolutely unprofessional. I made an appointment on a Thursday afternoon for 3:30pm to color my hair with Rosi (store owner). Once I arrived for my appointment I was told she wasn’t there. Minutes later I told one of the stylist can she call Rosi because maybe I had made a mistake. Rosi arrives about 10 mins later and tells me it’s too late for my hair to be colored because the salon will close soon. I was confused as to why on the phone some lady told me my appointment was scheduled but now it’s too late. But it didn’t upset me so she rescheduled me for the next day at 10am. Friday morning I arrived on time for my appointment. I’m told once again Rosi is not here. So I just sit and wait. About an hour and a couple minutes passed and I’m still waiting. I never write reviews but I had to because this place is absolutely unprofessional. I made an appointment on a Thursday afternoon for 3:30pm to color my hair with Rosi (store owner). Understand that for years I have searched far and wide from Irvington, to Newark, and even Elizabeth for a good salon. This salon is by far one of the best I’ve been to. I don’t go on the typical busy times (weekend mornings). My work schedule is a little different so thankfully I can walk in on a Tuesday afternoon and be one of the only people there before the after school heard rushes in. They’re very polite and nice and are quick with working on your hair. The prices are fair and they don’t play around. Some salons I’ve gone to charge you differently each visit for the same services done. For example, one week I’m being told I have to pay $15 and the next I’m told $18. I don’t argue because it’s not much of a difference to me but be consistent with your prices. It’s closer to home as well so that’s always a plus. Parking isn’t really bad because if you’re like me and go on a random weekday in the afternoon, there will be street parking available. If you go when it’s packed, I recommend parking your car at the Popeye’s at the corner and walking a block down. I’ve done it countless times and have never had any issues when walking back to my car. With that being said, this really is good spot to visit should you be in the market for a fresh new salon to try out.

First time there, everyone was very polite. Got a hair cut, dry and set. The stylist took her time to make sure the cut was good. Even said this look even better a bit shorter and went in again to master the cut. My hair was set so good it lasted me almost 2 weeks.

The competitive prices keep me coming back, but man I need to learn Spanish lol. I’ve come here long enough to know the stylists’ strengths and weaknesses, so when I come on days that I need a trim, I go to Wanda only. I know which person washes hair thoroughly without scratching the skin off of my scalp (some of beauticians are very ROUGH at the hair washing stations). With this knowledge, getting my hair done is a breeze. I usually come during week days. Weekends are too packed in there. One critique: they always set the Heat way too high when blow drying hair, I imagine this is to get me in and out of the chair fast, but I absolutely hate that. The extreme heat is not good for the health of my hair and overall is unbearable to deal with.

Then when I finally looked in the mirror they rubbed hand sanitizer around my head. They DID NOT prep me correctly for the color and still had the nerve to charged me $80 for a Horrible service.
