PR at Partners Salon, Friendship Heights

Critical: QualityHaving recently moved to the area after 20 years away I went to PR because I had been there once when I was in high school. I had not had a haircut in 16 months. ( pandemic), I recently had a baby, and I’m turning 40. Needless to say I haven’t been feeling like myself and desperately needed a fresh haircut. I went in and told this to the receptionist and I said I want some one good please. Thinking when understood I showed up for my appointment. The hairdresser was a nice girl, I showed her photos of my last cut (which I loved from my old hairdresser) explained my hair and how I need it to be and she said sure and so it began. Half way through the cut she told me she was new to cutting hair and had never went to hair dresser school, she was an apprentice, which is fine and I definitely believe in learning by doing but with consent. I really wish it hadn’t been on me. Again, very sweet girl she gave me a blow out and I was happy to have the weight lifted off my shoulders but after one wash, it’s a bad haircut, very little understanding of my thick hair, and it’s very short. It looks nothing like I showed her, told her or wanted. My only hope now is it grows fast so I can get the style I want. Tomorrow is my birthday and worse than I did before the cut. I guess it really comes down to the receptionist or listening and or not taking me seriously. Having recently moved to the area after 20 years away I went to PR because I had been there once when I was in high school. I had not had a haircut in 16 months. ( pandemic), I recently had a baby, and I’m turning 40. Needless to say I haven’t been feeling like myself and desperately needed a fresh haircut. Positive: ProfessionalismI noticed there are rave reviews about Sandra. As a relatively new customer, I want to say they are all on-point. Sandra is exceptional. In a field where her level of skill is often accompanied by hubris, she is kind and gracious. But also a consummate professional who doesn’t mince words when it comes to telling you the truth about a flawed style strategy or a doomed coloring plan. I had been to the salon about half a dozen times and seen three stylists because my schedule isn’t conducive to booking ahead of time. I went to Sandra after a different colorist noticed a very poorly executed haircut.Sandra assessed the problem instantly and went to work, quickly but skillfully smoothing choppy layers and giving my hair dimension without density.The second time I came to her, was on the heels of a difficult time. Burnt out at work and exhausted from keeping up with two small kids, I had come in for a root touch up much sooner than expected because of a broken hand. As she looked through my hair to gauge the progress of her strategy to lighten my black hair, a Sisyphean task of camouflaging the striking gray which grows at turbo speed, she declared, “I’m fixing this. I can’t look at it and I’m going to add some toner and highlights, and…”And then she did just that, not only lifting the color but my spirits as well. I walked into that appointment feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders and, thanks to Sandra’s magical powers and empathy, I left with a spring in my step. Sandra cares. She has always made my hair turn out exactly how I wanted but better. She is extremely talented and an amazing stylist. She has always made my hair turn out exactly how I wanted but better. She is extremely talented and an amazing stylist. If you are looking for a stylist I highly recommend Sandra, you won’t be disappointed.
