The only classically trained barber in the area, gives amazing conversation, is thorough and always outperforms himself, and knows his customers by a first name basis. I want to keep Allen all to myself but Chester County needs more classically trained barbers who actually cut hair, not just use a pair of plastic clippers and “shape ups”. Call him, make an appointment, and get that COVID-cut trimmed up for goodness sake.

Fantastic barber and an even better person. If I could give Allen a 100 star rating, I would! Allen helped me and my groomsmen get ready for my wedding back in July of 2017. We made an appointment early in the morning and Allen was able to get all of us in, no problem. His personality is great and provided some normalcy to an otherwise hectic day. His barbershop chairs are vintage but an awesome throne to sit in while Allen works his magic. After 4 haircuts and 4 shaves, he wanted to charge us nothing more than what seemed like a few pennies after the great time we all had. Allen felt bad taking a generous tip and I felt bad paying him so little for such a great experience. After we were all cleaned up we went on our way. Although I do not live in the area, I will definitely pay Allen a visit the next time I am in town.

I have been going to Allen for over nine years now. It’s hard to find someone to give a satisfactory military grade fade. When you find them you stay with them. That is what I have done with Allen and why I travel the distance I do for him to cut my hair. He is always professional, he knows his customers, and is very accommodating. It is always a good time in the shop as everyone is friendly and is always engaging in conversation with each other. That is what the barbershop atmosphere is all about. The hot lather neck shave and hot towel just caps off the whole experience. I had tons of haircuts while on active duty and now feel I was cheated as they didn’t offer hot lather shaves. Amazing shop, amazing atmosphere, amazing customers and most of all an amazing fully capable Barber with more than fair prices. Not much more to ask for except for an appointment!

Allen is a fantastic barber. The shop is in a great location and easy to get to from Route 30. It’s always clean, well stocked, and full of great conversation. Allen’s the only one I trust to manage my rather large beard. Pricing is perfect for a hair cut and options for shampoos, straight razor shaves, and scalp massages are wonderful. I’ll never go anywhere else. I highly recommend it!

This is a terrific little barbershop. One of the best kept secrets in Chester County. The shop is neat, clean & welcoming. There’s plenty of parking & they’re conveniently located directly on Rte 322 just outside of Downingtown, PA. The owner, Allen, has over 39 years of haircutting experience. In addition to being an outstanding hairstylist and Barber, he’s also a nice man offering interesting conversation & paying great attention to detail while cutting your hair. I’d recommend to anyone that’s looking for a quality, reasonably priced haircut in a pleasant non cookie cutter environment come to his shop.

I went to Popjoy’s today for the first time. My barber of 30 years is under the weather. I highly recommend Popjoy’s! Allen is a highly skilled barber and he exceeded my expectations. He provides outstanding service and fairly prices his services. I plan to go back for another cut in 4 weeks. His location is easy to get to and it is easy to park.
