Davina and her Pomp & Artistry team were amazing to work with. I had a spring (May) wedding and the weather was super rainy and icky in the morning, then turned to wind, and then sunshine – our hair and makeup stayed in place throughout all the weather and emotions the day held. Davina’s communication leading up to the wedding day was great and they were supper efficient on getting 10 girls makeup & hair done while keeping us on our timeline. Thanks for making me feel like a queen on my big day!

Davina was always kind and answered my calls or emails in a timely manner. On the day of my wedding she was on time and did an amazing job with our hair, and her makeup artist did a fantastic job with our makeup. The humidity was about 90% the day of my wedding, and it rained. Our hair and makeup stayed throughout the night. I would recommend Pomp & Artistry to anyone who is looking for on site hair and makeup the day of their wedding. We had 11 girls who had hair and makeup done 🙂

I had a really hard time finding someone in the Grand Rapids area to do my hair for my wedding. I didn’t have a large bridal party, and so many salons had a minimum required head count. I was SO relieved when I found Davina and her team, but they went well above and beyond my expectations. Davina made me look so beautiful for my wedding, and I couldn’t have been happier. She’s also just an incredibly kind and wonderful person who was a joy to work with. I recommend Pomp and Artistry completely!

Davina and her team do beautiful work, no doubt, but arrived at my venue close to an hour late and a stylist short of what was contracted for. We had agreed that the only way to get ready in time was to have three stylists, so I was very disappointed when two showed up… late. As a result, we were rushed, and in her rush the make-up artist spilled foundation all over the rug so I lost my security deposit on the venue. More importantly, we didn’t get to do bridal party pictures before the ceremony as planned, and started the ceremony quite late. My mother-in-law was still getting her hair done as guests were being seated. Further, despite trying, I was not able to schedule a trial with Davina so I sent emails with pictures a week before, but never received a response. Davina had not reviewed them and as a result did not have a plan for completing my hair as desired. She took much longer with my hair than anticipated and kept repeating the mantra that I “needed to be realistic” with my expectations for a side swept look because my hair (which came about 5 inches past my shoulders) was not long enough to gather on one side. Once she tried it, it worked, but I had to be very firm and ask her to try repetitively which was incredibly frustrating (especially since I was already stressed out because we were running late because Pomp and Artistry was so, so late). I would give one star because I felt that this company was incredibly unprofessional, but am giving two because they are talented hair and make-up artists and the end-result was beautiful.

I don’t wear much makeup and only let my hair air dry. My expectations for Rochelle and Brooklyn doing my hair and makeup was that I would have an aching scalp and a pound of heavy makeup that I would hate throughout my friend’s wedding. However, I was wrong. Brooklyn did my makeup first and with just a reference photo she made me feel more beautiful than I did on my wedding day. The airbrush makeup wasn’t heavy at all and I forgot about the false lashes (which are optional) until I tried to go to bed that night. Rochelle had a lot to deal with since my hair is fine yet there’s a ton of it but the style stayed up all night and didn’t make me ache or hate it at all. I received tons of compliments all night as well as the rest of the wedding party and the beautiful bride. I would definitely use their services again and I would request Rochelle and Brooklyn!

Again and again I read about other people having issues communicating with them. They don’t respond emails, they replied when I followed up because I hadn’t received an answer. The day-of they gave me an attitude because I asked them to put my veil on, their answer was I should put it after the dress is on and “the photographer can put it on” — unbelievable! My hair did not hold well all night, they blamed my hair for being “too much and too heavy”, I wonder why I’ve had updo’s done before and they hold very well. If you want proof of how unprofessional they are, go to The Knot and read their responses to bad feedback. Also notice how long it takes them to even write the reply. I think their rude replies speak for themselves.

Davina made me feel so at ease. I’ve never felt so beautiful. I showed some pictures of ideas I had and the end result was basically identical. She’s perfection. A million thanks! Plus, my hair and makeup stayed fabulous even after tons of rain.

I liked how invested the ladies were leading up to my wedding and how nice they were the day of. The issues was it didn’t translate the day of. I wished I loved my hair and makeup but neither were great. Both were okay and they worked hard, neither were what I asked for or what I wanted. Unfortunately, I’m bummed looking at ever picture from out wedding.
