If I look like I have “good hair” they treat me good. When I look like I have “bad hair” they treat me rudely like because I have natural hair I am a burden to them. The lady complains when combing my hair. This has been happening since I first went there 10 years ago. I never knew that this was inappropriate because I’ve never been anywhere else. As I started exploring, I realize this isn’t good service. The last time they turned me away saying they didn’t feel like doing my hair after I called first and came in before the cut off time. I’ve been natural my whole life they hate it. I always tip so I was highly offended that they didn’t value me as a 10 yr customer. They were like “oh no not her again” in Spanish.

Don’t go to this place especially if you have natural hair. Tried this place 4 times. Twice I used their products. Twice I used my own. Completely ruined my curls. My hair broke off in chunks. They use extremely high heat in the hood dryers and blow dryers. I didn’t notice the damage right away. The last time I went my hair had a heavy chemical smell so I quickly rewashed my hair and noticed the damage and changes to my curl pattern. My hair wouldn’t curl. I was done after that. I went back to my old pricey hair dresser and asked about the smell and breakage. She stated aside from my hair appearing as though it’s been improperly relaxed, they may be closing the back of their blow dryers to dry hair faster. This explanation makes sense thinking back to the tons of smoke coming from their blow dryers. I’ve never seen this at my current, or previous, salons. I do believe they mix relaxer into their products. This should be a concern to even those with relaxers. Constant exposure to chemicals, AND without neutralizing, is horrible for anyone’s hair. Not worth the cheap price. I had been natural for 8 years. They ruined it in 4 visits. It’s a complete violation. Pay extra money elsewhere if you care about your hair. The cheap route is very costly.

I too believe they have relaxer in their shampoo. I had thick natural hair, I have gone there several times before without incident. My last visit I just went because I wanted my hair washed and blown out before getting a crotchet braid style. I recently took the braids out and washed my own hair and my hair is stringy in patches not my usual curly fro and smells of chemical. I’ll now have to cut my neck length hair

I am African American and have long, thick natural hair and every time I come here to get a Doobie with the roots blown out, they do an amazing job! I always go to Jackie, the lady who cuts the hair, because she always knows how to have my hair looking perfect & never cuts too much when I get layers or a trim. I have not experienced any heat damage from getting my hair done here, but then again I only go twice a year, three times max. If you want your hair laid in a good amount of time, go in the morning on a weekday because everyone loves this place so it’s always packed.

Great place to go for a affordable relaxer, wash and set, doobie or blow out. I love getting my hair washed most by the woman known as Columbia. She is always friendly amd makes sure your hair is washed clean. If you have extensions sewn in she will be sure to clean your braids and scratch under. They use good products and you can also bring your own if you prefer(no price difference).

I’ve been faithfully going to this place for about three years. However, I will not be returning. Two of their best hairstylist recently left and it’s not the same. Went to get a doobie and one of the new hairstylist struggled with my hair because she said it was too thin to wrap. In addition, she said she couldn’t blow out a small area of my hair that didn’t fully from being under the dryer. Complaining that she was not suppose to do a blow out, in which I was not asking for. If you are a hairstylist you should be able to do any type of hair and go out your way to make the customer happy. I was so upset I ended up leaving without a doobie. If you do go, have Columbia wash your hair, she’s the best!!!

I’ve been here about a good 6 times first 3 times were great service hair came out good, next 3 times service was horrible and my hair came out horrible they washed my hair put me under the dryer then when I get in the chair instead of Them taking the curlers out and oiling my hair piece by piece and blow drying it piece by piece they just put the oil in their hand and rubbed it thru my hair then blow dryer my hair out and wrapped it, when I let my hair down the next day it didn’t even look like I had a blow out it was puffy n wouldn’t lay down it was a waste of money! Don’t bother to go to them they pick and choose who’s hair they want to do nice, because I was looking around and didn’t see them do anybody else hair how they did mine, never went back, also their customer service is horrible‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

This is a terrible place to come if you’re black with natural 4c hair. The staff is already extremely rude regardless but they’re especially rude to people with this hair texture. All I wanted was to blow out my hair for a trim.Although, their price was right.I have come to learn that you get what you pay for as their service was most definitely WRONG! It is 2018 , everyone knows you never ever detangle natural hair dry.Save yourself the hair loss and shell out the extra cash.

I like platinum doobies as a business although I prefer their Central avenue location. They are quick and financial sufficient. Although the only down side is there is one lady who washes hair who won’t use her hands she uses a comb. I think this is damaging especially if you have thick hair.
