Today was my first and I think last time coming here. So I got a wash and blow, deep condition and trim and paid $45. They didn’t base my price off the length of my hair which was nice because a lot of places do. They do make you pay first and your receipt has a number that helps them determine the order in which clients are serviced. The wash was okay, the blow dryer was extremely hot. I was under the impression that they flat ironed after the blow dryer, because that’s a normal practice at other salons if you are not doing a roller set. Apparently here they do not use straighteners due to sanitary reasons. The thought seemed decent enough but if you are a natural and trying to achieve that straight straight look, don’t even bother wasting your time. I had no complaints about my trim. I spent a total of 2 hours here and was unsatisfied with my result and going to fix my hair once I get in the house. It’s only 2 stars because it wasn’t an awful experience, price was decent, customer service was alright at best but as a curly natural I felt like they were not able to achieve the results I was seeking. Wish there was a review like this before I was disappointed so hopefully this helps somebody out lol

I went here in a pinch. Asked them before I payed if they were comfortable working on natrual hair I was assured the stylists were. But when I went to the back the women who washed hair immediately looked annoyed! The lady raked through my hair so roughly that I had to comb my own hair out. Nice clean place and fast service but I don’t recommend if your hair is natrual.

She said my daughters hair was too thick to go in the rollers for a doobie the worst doobie my daughters ever had..And charged me 7$ dollars more just to straight blow out it didn’t last a day …I won’t go back here..

Love this place been going here for years.. They have impeccable service front the owner down to the stylist. If you had a bad experience it’s only because you have to tell them what and how you want things done and sometimes bringing your own products is okay they don’t mind.. especially if your a natural girl it’s a Most for us.. just remember nobody can read your mind

The actual experience wasn’t bad however I was confused as to why they never flat ironed my hair. So as the week went on my hair started smelling burnt. When I washed it I noticed ALOT OF SHEDDING! My curl pattern destroyed and the burnt smell not really going away. Went to my naturally hair stylist and they said Relaxer was used on my hair. So I’m VERY UPSET.

This salon is very clean inside the receptionist and lady who did my hair was nice. The only thing is nobody inside really speaks English, and they don’t like doing natural hair and they charge $85 just for highlights.

Famously known for $8 doobies that are now $13 which still remains super affordable… please be mindful “DOOBIES” consist of only a wash , roller set & wrap . If your hair is natural, tightly coiled & thick … you might not be a good candidate for just a “doobie” but instead a direct blow dry with a hydrating treatment, please speak to the ladies at the front desk for any assistance or advice on which Service would be best for you. My daughter introduced me to Platinum Doobie in 2008 when they were on Washington Street in Newark. They were very professional and the shop was always clean. Now that they have closed I go to Platinum Doobie on Central Ave which is the second shop to the one that was in Newark. They are very pleasant and professional as well as the shop being clean. I never have to wait long to be seen.
