I went in for a silk press today and Faith did an amazing job washing, styling, and trimming my hair! She was super gentle and attentive throughout my entire experience! Tonya’s salon is so welcoming and serene. The service was attentive and thorough, and I was in & out in a timely manner. As a black young woman, I’m so happy to have found a shop that handles my hair with so much care. I could not speak more highly of this experience! Thank you so much Only One Touch.

I’m so very grateful that I found Only One Touch. My first encounter with the hair salon was very warm and inviting. The staff were great and it ultimately served as a safe haven for a newbie such as myself. My hair has grown since coming to Only One Touch, and the complements I receive from the public help build my confidence in ways I never could have imagined. I will ALWAYS recommend Only One Touch to all whom see interested. THANKS LATONYA FOR EVERYTHING ♥️

I now understand why men are afraid of losing their go-to barber. Living in CT while my Dominican go-to hair stylist resides in NYC, I had little choice but to find a local salon. At first glance, I believed I found a potential match, and was excited to support a locally owned black business. Lord was I wrong. The whole experience has been very disappointing, upsetting, and quite frankly just a huge letdown. I booked a coloring session so that I could rock a new look, but such a service requires multiple sessions as I have very long, dark hair. Well, I paid over a total of $200 dollars for a service that was never completed since I have yet to achieve my desired hair color. The color I currently have is okay, but this is Not what I paid for. Tonya repeatedly kept forgetting/cancelling/postponing my scheduled appointments, offered to reschedule, but would never respond back in a timely manner. I had to keep pestering her in order to get a response out of her, it was like pulling teeth. Extremely unprofessional, unorganized, poor customer care/service. I tried my best to be very patient and understanding to the situation since the salon moved to another location. However at a certain point, you must take accountability and need to uphold your responsibility to your clients as this is your livelihood, not really something you should toy with. Tonya did very little to form a client relationship, and either referred to me as “lady” or “you”. Ma’am, I have a name – it’s Michelle. The first red flag I missed occurred when Tonya required me to pay FULL SERVICE for the coloring even though my hair was nowhere near my desired color. How can you pay full service for something that was (and still currently is) incomplete? This is not how business works. I was way too trusting because I believed, well Tonya owns her business, so she must know what she is doing, right? She most likely has been in the industry for some time, and has been licensed/trained in this. Wrong. I honestly should have only paid half, that way I could ensure that I get the right hair color and in exchange, I pay the rest of what is left. Just common sense. Instead, Tonya got her end of the bargain, meaning she is least inclined to schedule bookings to fulfill the color I wanted, while I only got nothing but regret on my end. The very last session was the worst of all because I being bounced around different stations whenever Tonya was busy, both my ears were severely burnt (the skin on my ears peeled off and took a month to fully recover) during the silk press by Tonya’s daughter (I believe), and still after 4-5 hours I did not see much of a difference so I was not happy at the results. Tonya offered to rebook me after New Years to complete what was started, and I have not heard a single peep from her. I recently sent her a text a week ago as a last resort to see if this could be accomplished or not. I am done. I sincerely do not recommend this salon to anyone. My hopes were high, but to no avail. I would not want this type of service for my family and friends. My best hope is to stick with my stylist from NY or try a Dominican salon in the New Haven/Hamden area and thankfully, there are a few of them. I chose this place because it had great reviews, and used to be very close in proximity. However remember that reviews can either make or break your business, it goes both ways. If you still decide to give them a shot, best of luck, you are going to need it. Otherwise, do not be shocked when your appointments are constantly being cancelled, postponed, you are unable to get a hold of your stylist, and receive decent quality of work but very subpar and disappointing customer service. I would not go out of my way to write a review if things weren’t that bad.

Ebony has been taking excellent care of my hair for a while now. She is always patient and pleasant. My schedule is all over the place, but she always finds time for me, she never turns me away. This salon proves that chemicals are not necessarily needed to maintain beautiful, healthy looking hair. I’m always pleased with how great my hair looks!
