Love this Barber shop. Extremely good atmosphere, the Barbers love to talk to their customers unlike many other shops. It makes the old town feel real.

Terrible place to get a cut. Wasn’t greeted at all when I entered the shop and on top of that I was told its by appointments but he’d cut my hair because he was feeling generous. No one else was in the shop… On top of that he didn’t take his time at all on my cut. He finished it in 5 minutes and didn’t even follow my instructions of getting a zero fade. I sadly only came here because my original barber was closed and it was my only day off. I will never again go here

I’ve tried 4 of their barbers, and only Luis came close to getting my haircut right, now he is gone. I tried the 5th barber today but got the worst cut of all. I wanted a straightface, not dipping or arched.. (you tell me??),I just said it looked good because I knew I was done with OTMB. Was charged 20 for the cut when I always paid 18 (unless they raised price in the last 2 weeks.) Wish I knew where Luis moved to?

Like a lot of things in Old Town Monrovia this is a blast from the past. Great old time barber shop antique chairs and a staff of Barbers that really know how to cut. Took my kid here who is almost 7 The Barber who cut his hair had tons of tattoos and barber pole tattoos on his sideburns he was an incredible Barber and my boy looks like a little gentleman.

Thought I’d support local business after months away, but no, I got a ridiculous cut despite my instructions when he behaved like he totally got what I said. And the funniest thing I realized is that I can cut my hair better with the clippers bought in stores. So no more of this funny business.

Positive: QualityWas looking for my review I wrote last year and could not find it. Not sure what happened to it. Anyway, this barbershop is a great 50s style barbershop with professional barbers. They give you style. Just like stepping back in time with the music and overall old Hollywood atmosphere. The owner Gabriel is a Master Barber and will have you looking sharp!!!Was looking for my review I wrote last year and could not find it. Not sure what happened to it. I found this place for my boyfriend who needed his hair cut before a big interview. We went in and the place was so cute, (sorry boys) but it was decorated as if you were in a 50’s barbershop. Even the location, Old Town Monrovia, gave the impression of a small town where everyone knows your name. Of course, they don’t know your name because this is LA but the atmosphere makes you forget you’re in a big city. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore and parking is free, compared to city parking. The guys at the shop were super friendly and not just talented but fast too. My boyfriend’s hair cut took no longer than 20 min and we were surprised at how inexpensive the cut was. For a place with such charm you’d expect to pay $50 but it was an affordable $20. There are other additional services for men and adjustable seating for kids. I loved that there was a mix of people in the shop. From older men to younger, from business professional to skater, etc. All and all, I highly recommend this place to anyone new in town looking for someone to replace their old barbershop. It will exceed your expectations.

Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueThey never are available when I need a haircut and today I called during store hours and no one even answered the phone. Been trying for weeks to get a haircut. Guess I will just have to go somewhere else.Edit: I decided to read what others had wrote after leaving my review. One customer mentioned that the price was different than what they had normally been charged previously. The response from the owner was something along the lines of, “Just admit you can’t afford a $20 haircut” and proceeded to insult the customer. You can read this for yourself to this day. All you have to do is scroll down a little bit. To me, this is unacceptable. That’s not how we are supposed to treat each other in our daily lives and that’s definitely not how you run a business. If they don’t care about how they treat their customers then I don’t want to be their customer to begin with. They never are available when I need a haircut and today I called during store hours and no one even answered the phone. I’ve been coming here and only here for 7 years to get my haircuts. Normally cuts are great, but I will not be coming back anymore. Bruce was very impatient, said he was tired of trying to ‘accommodate’ me for being dissatisfied with the way my hair turned out. Charged me $35, which I’ve NEVER seen before. Attention to detail was poor, cut a good portion of skin off with a razor at eye level. If you’re having a bad day, don’t be rude to customers, give a half hearted apology and then over charge them.
