Lance Mitchell AKA the “Old Goat” is a highly trained barber with over 30 years’ experience in hair. He has worked in salons and barber shops alike. Lance started classical Italian training in the art of hairdressing and barbering at the age of 20, just after earning his cosmetology license. His work has been featured on stage, television, and runways in Washington, D.C., New York and Boston. He has a passion for helping his customers feel and look their best which is evident in his highly skilled and crafted haircuts, fades, beard trims and shaves – no matter the service! He has been serving the Winchester area in the Commonwealth of Virginia for several years now but is proud to share he opened his own barber shop in 2022.

My foster son (who is a toddler with sensory needs) met Lance on Friday. From the minute we walked in, he made us feel at home. There were toys and activities to keep him engaged. Lance literally got on the floor to interact with our kiddo before beginning the haircut, which immediately put our foster son at ease. He was patient, gentle, and efficient. For at least 4 years I have used Lance as my barber. I also bring my two boys to get their haircuts as well. His professionalism and expertise in being a barber is truly amazing. He is great with my boys and always provides a great experience! Without him trimming my beard it wouldn’t look as good as it does. I will not use another barber as long as he is a working barber. I even plan my haircuts before I go on vacation to make sure no one else will cut my hair. He carries HIGH quality beard and hair products from Suavecito. The pomades and beard products are the best I’ve used to date. Please give him a try you won’t be disappointed!

Been to a lot of “old fashioned” barber shops looking for a great beard barber. This is the guy. Takes his time, doesn’t rush. It’s probably the first hair cut and beard trim where everything was done perfect. Definitely the first to not mangle my beard. Outstanding haircut from a skilled pro. Lance’s small shop is geared toward the individual service he provides; just one barber chair for one customer. I also find the eclectic features of Lance’s shop to be charming, from the hand laith in one corner, to the rock music being played, to the occasional appearances of his pup.
